On behalf of The Board of Directors, I am pleased to present our annual Report to Donors for 2009 to the Boyertown Area Community.  Six years ago the area residents, business owners, and property owners worked together to create an ambitious Mission Statement for Building a Better Boyertown (BBB):

To keep Boyertown a special place by preserving its historical heritage, maintaining its link to the past and cultivating a vibrant present and prosperous future by providing the opportunities for business, industry and the arts while enhancing the quality of life today and for future generations.

BBB has steadfastly pursued that Mission since it was created.  While there are still goals to pursue, the community has taken on a new mind-set.  Our image has changed, our efforts are paying dividends, and your support is the reason.

Since BBB's inception, 45 buildings have had their appearance upgraded.  Many did so with the assistance of BBB's Facade Program.  From new signs to completely new facades, the downtown Boyertown area has undergone a face lift.  In addition, Boyertown now has its own art gallery (Studio B), the community can buy fresh produce at its own Farmer's Market, the Tree Committee offers free trees to Boyertown residents, the Design Committee continues its pursuit of a new streetscape which is closing in on reality, while the Promotions Committee successfully stages high profile events including Oktoberfest, Cruise Night, Dog Days, Chillin', and others.  When looked at as a whole, the activity is staggering.  With over 9400 volunteer hours just last year, the community support is, quite frankly, humbling.

The Mission continues.  However, it is only possible through the generosity of the Donors that have faith in our Mission, the Boyertown community, and Borough Council.  Building a Better Boyertown enters a new era as it is weaned from State financial aid.  We are confident that the positive impact of all the activities will garner the support necessary to continue the pursuit of our Mission.  Undoubtedly, Building a Better Boyertown's Board of Directors is committed to this purpose.

Hence, on behalf of BBB's Board of Directors, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the Donors, both large and small, that have supported us over the years.  Building a Better Boyertown is deeply appreciative of all the support you have provided.  We also need to thank all of the volunteers for the efforts they expend in pursuit of our Mission.  Your selfless dedication and hard work are not matched by any other Main Street Community in Pennsylvania.  BBB's very existence is because of you.  We are also very grateful for the support provided by Borough Council.   We have formed a true partnership with Council striving toward the common goal of improving the quality of life in Boyertown.

Yes, the Mission continues and as we enter this era of self sufficiency, it is the Mission and this Special Kind of Place that will propel us into a vibrant future.  To all of you we extend a special thank you and present this short summary of our financial results for 2009.
