Industry Insight: More huge acquisitions
Google announced plans to buy Motorola Mobility for $12.5b, in what many observers view as an IP play.  Another deal: in its eighth acquisition since spinning out from Alltel, ILEC Windstream will pay $2.3b for PAETEC and enhance its business and broadband services.

Message from Richard McFarlane, President:

Join us at 4G World for a 12-member roundtable discussion with your peers

Alliance will be sponsoring a private small group round table at 4G World in October. No sales pitches or presentations; just a discussion of industry issues you choose with your peers over dinner. We will provide an opportunity to meet other attendees, and to share and gain insight on key issues.

The movement to 4G is moving to front and center for Service Providers of all sizes. We have been attending the annual 4G World conference for the past four years. We are seeing a real turning point in this year's event. In previous years the focus was on network infrastructure and the deployment of the technology. This will continue as current deployments include WiMax, HSPA + and LTE.

But this year's agenda shows attention moving to the new products, the new customer behavior, and the new business process needed to support the technology. Alliance has always focused on business process analysis and systems changes in Billing & Care, Customer Experience, and Revenue Maximization. All will be impacted and our round table will allow you to exchange views and ideas within a small group of your peers regarding these impacts.

Our purpose in attending the event is to determine what we should be offering and what you feel the issues will be, so we will sponsor the event to listen, not talk. We only have room for 12 people, so if you would like to be included, please email me to attend the round table, or to arrange a meeting with us during the event.  We hope to see you in Chicago in October.
