Upcoming Community Events with SA!
June 5th and 6th: The Atlantic Avenue ArtWalk is a fantastic self-guided tour of open studios &
area exhibitions, public art projects, special events, and local
merchants. This year, join the ArtWalk on June 5 and 6and experience Brooklyn's best exhibits, artist dialogues, live music,
and special deals at restaurants & bars.
Starting Artists will be hosting
"Imaginings," the newest show from the Broad Visions Art Consortium! Broad Visions is a group of retired Brooklyn teachers who meet weekly and create beautiful works of art. June 19th: SA will be joining BoCoCa Outdoors @Carroll Park on June 19, a gathering of vendors including jewelry artisans, visual artists, restaurants, & more! Come for a day of family fun, beautiful art, live music, and community cheer. @Carroll Park, Court St & President St. June 27th: Enjoy the best Smith Street has to offer at the Smith Street Sunday Funday on June 27! This street fair has a great reputation as an artist & crafter venue and foodie haven. SA's table will feature arts & crafts, face painting, & more. *** Want to get involved? Special Projects Update
Girls Club: The SA Girls Club has been hard at work this semester on their first-ever project, creating a film about preventing teenage pregnancy in Brooklyn. They plan to have their project completed by the end of the Afterschool Program - we'll share it with you as soon as we can!
Creative Entrepreneurs Club:
The CEC is currently finishing their original designs for this semester's recipient nonprofit organization, Moviehouse. Moviehouse is an interactive screening series whose mission is to promote connections through discussion of issues raised by film. The CEC will design posters and postcards for Moviehouse's upcoming summer film series, CinemaParque, which screens films about the Latino experience in Brooklyn's Sternberg Park Handball Courts. |

Want to get artistic & entrepreneurial this summer? SA's Summer Program is your answer! This program, designed for middle & high school students, will challenge & excite young artists. Each week features a new theme which guides its lessons and activities, including Photography, Graphic Design, & more! Visit our Summer Program Focus Page for details.
