It's taken me 15 years to figure out that there are a few non-negotiable issues that pertain to the Aliyah (immigration) of Sephardic Anusim to the land of our Jewish forefathers. What I'm about to say will anger a few of you but to the majority it may come as a pleasant surprise, here's why. . .
When our ancestors arrived in Spain (Sepharad) thousands of years ago, they became known as Sephardic Jews. Since then, our forefathers have undergone many attempts to force them to convert to different faiths and religions. Let me stress that I'm going somewhere with this little history chat. This has to do with the issue of CONVERSION by 99% of Sephardic Anusim in order to make Aliyah.
The earliest attempts to convert our Sephardic forefathers came at the turn of the millennium, during the time of Yeshua (Jesus). The Greco-Roman philosophy of life became the bait to their assimilation. This was a combination between Greek mythology and Roman legalism.
Between AD 711 and the 15th Century, the Moslem Arabs used violent force in their attempt to convert Sephardic Jews to their Moslem faith. They forced them to abide by their Islamic (Sharia) laws.
From the 11th to the 13th Centuries, the Crusaders held umpteen campaigns across parts of Europe, Africa and the Middle East, including Spain. Blessed by the Catholic Pope, they used violent force in order to convert everyone, including Sephardic Jews, to Catholic Christianity.
In 1391 Sephardic Jews fled Spain because of a holocaust known as the Spanish Inquisition. This Inquisition escalated to their expulsion from Spain in 1492. Tens of thousands were forced to convert to Catholic Christianity in order to diminish some of the tension and horrific persecution against Jews in Spain.

After their arrival in the Americas in the late 1400's, they discovered that the Spanish Inquisition had transferred powers to Mexico City and other Latin American countries. Again, the blatant use of persecution, torture and executions were used in order to convert Sephardic Jews to Catholic Christianity.
Many of them fled across the border into what's today the United States. But now they faced other precarious attempts to convert them. However, in this case, it wasn't Catholicism or Islam but the broad diversity of Protestant denominations. These ranged from Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal and Charismatic groups and other independent Christian groups.
This denominational competitiveness created new stresses among the Sephardic Anusim as they became more and more crypto as Jews in hiding. I have personally known many of my people who have lived as Catholics by day and Jews by night. From Catholicism, many later converted to Protestant denominations only to be later be led to convert to Pentecostal and Evangelical denominations. (Personally, it baffles me to think of how many baptisms our people have been dunked into.)
In my family's case, my paternal grandparents were born into Catholicism and then converted to a Protestant faith and later to a Pentecostal faith. On goes this conversion roller coaster ride.
The issue of our people has been one of unending conversions for convenience, appeasement or by force!

So what does all this have to do with my people's yearning to make Aliyah and to return to the land of our Jewish forefathers? Here's the point; and here's how we're going to make a difference. . .
I have heard the heartfelt outcry of many of my people saying, Ya Basta-- enough is enough. Often they say to me, "We love the land of Israel. . .we love the Jewish family we were severed from 500 years ago. . . we yearn to make Aliyah. We are committed to invest the rest of our lives, our families and our fortunes into the land where we belong; but we're not going to convert again."
Some of them have adamantly declared to me that they're done with conversions! Why should they convert, they say, when their heart is Jewish and their blood is of ancient Hebrew lines? They're tired of being yanked by religious circles. They're tired of all the labels that have been placed on them-telling them who they are and whom they're not. In essence, they tell me, "Hey, we're not up for grabs!"
Many are telling me that, one way or another, they will make Aliyah-if not themselves, certainly their children or their children's children. They're committed to align themselves to Israeli laws, policies and procedures in order to be accepted for Aliyah; but they will not undergo a conversion that denies or reneges on the role their (our) Messiah has performed in their lives. When no one else was there-when priests, nor rabbis nor pastors nor any other ministers were there, Yeshua was always there for them. It's not been the role of "the Church" nor the role of its clergy or laity but the role of One Person-Yeshua/Jesus that rescued them time and again. So why should they be forced to deny what's truth and fact, they ask. To them, the so called issue of Yeshua isn't a religious one but a relational one. With them it's not the ceremony or liturgy, nor is it the type of praise or worship or sermonizing but the day to day, minute by minute role that their Best Friend and Rescuer plays in their lives.
This Rescuer, this Deliverer doesn't play mind games on them nor is He some sort of inquisitor or monitor whom spies on them daily to assure they don't fall out of the grace of their own doctrines and fables.
Therefore, my trip to Israel just days ago was for one precise purpose: to collaborate with a few international leaders in order to create a world-wide coalition of Sephardic Anusim Jews with one issue at heart. The issue is to declare to the powers that be in Israel that we do not intend to convert again and to possibly lie or defraud the fact of who we really are and where we stand in our personal lives with Yeshua. Our Aliyah purposes are not to evangelize Jews; after all, anybody and everybody is responsible for the choices they make. Our intent isn't to be secret missionaries that enter the land of our forefathers only to suddenly remove the mask and bang them over the head with ten pound bibles. Our intent is to be vessels that God may use in order to fulfill end-times prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled. Our intent is to marry the land (as Isaiah states) and to be reconciled with our Jewish family and to usher in Messiah. That's all-to be a voice of one crying in the desert, "Prepare the way for the Lord."

Me ha tomado 15 años para darse cuenta de que hay algunos asuntos no negociables que pertenecen a la Aliá (inmigración) de los Anusim sefarditas a la tierra de nuestros antepasados judíos. Lo que voy a decir va a enfurecer a algunos de ustedes, pero a la mayoría puede ser una sorpresa agradable, aquí está por qué.
Cuando nuestros antepasados llegaron de España (Sefarad) hace miles de años, que llegó a ser conocido como Judios sefardí. Desde entonces, nuestros antepasados han sido objeto de muchos intentos de obligarlos a convertirse al credos y religiones diferentes. En 1391 Judios sefardíes huyeron de España a causa de un holocausto conocido como la Inquisición española. Esta Inquisición se intensificó a su expulsión de España en 1492. Decenas de miles fueron obligados a convertirse al cristianismo católico a fin de disminuir un poco la tensión y la persecución terrible contra los Judios en España.

Después de su llegada a las Américas a finales de 1400, descubrieron que la Inquisición española había transferido competencias a la Ciudad de México y otros países de América Latina. Una vez más, el uso descarado de la persecución, la tortura y las ejecuciones se utilizaron con el fin de convertir Judios sefardíes al cristianismo católico.
Muchos de ellos huyeron a través de la frontera en lo que es hoy los Estados Unidos. Pero ahora se enfrentaban a otros intentos precarios para convertirlos. Sin embargo, en este caso, no fue el catolicismo o el islam, pero la amplia diversidad de denominaciones protestantes. Estos van desde Luterana, Metodista, Bautista, los grupos pentecostales y carismáticos y otros grupos cristianos independientes.
Esta competitividad de denominaciones creada nuevas tensiones entre los Anusim sefardí, ya que se hizo más y más cripto como Judios en la clandestinidad. He conocido personalmente a muchos de mis personas que han vivido, como católicos, tanto de día como de noche Judios. Desde el catolicismo, muchos más tarde se convirtió a las denominaciones protestantes sólo para ser más tarde se llevaron a convertir a las denominaciones pentecostales y evangélicas. Entonces, ¿qué significa todo esto tiene que ver con el anhelo de mi pueblo a hacer Aliá y para volver a la tierra de nuestros antepasados judíos? Aquí está el punto, y así es como vamos a hacer una diferencia. . .
He escuchado el clamor sincero de muchos de mi pueblo diciendo: Ya Basta - ya es suficiente. A menudo me dicen: "Nosotros amamos la tierra de Israel... nos encanta la familia Judía que fueron separados de hace 500 años... anhelamos hacer Aliá. Nos hemos comprometido a invertir el resto de nuestras vidas, nuestras familias y nuestras fortunas en la tierra donde debemos estar, pero no vamos a convertir de nuevo".
Algunos de ellos me han declarado que jamás pasaran por otra conversión. ¿Para qué convertirse, dicen, cuando su corazón es Judío y su sangre es de las antiguas líneas Hebreas? Están cansados de ser arrancados por los círculos religiosos. Están cansados de todas las etiquetas que han sido puestas en ellos, diciéndoles quien son y quien no son. En esencia, ellos me dicen: "Oye, no estamos en juego!"
Muchos me dicen que, de una manera u otra, harán Aliá. Sea ya a través de sus hijos o los hijos de sus hijos. Están comprometidos a alinearse a las leyes Israelíes, políticas y procedimientos con el fin de ser aceptados para su Aliá, pero que no se someterán a una conversión que niega o reniega de la función de nuestro Mesías. Cuando no había nadie más, cuando los sacerdotes, ni los rabinos, ni pastores ni ningún otro ministro estaban allí, Yeshua estaba siempre allí para ellos. No ha sido el papel de "la Iglesia", ni el papel de sus clérigos o laicos, pero el papel de una Persona--Yeshua/Jesús que los rescataron vez tras vez. Así que ¿por qué deberían ser forzados a negar lo que es verdad. Para ellos, la cuestión de los llamados de Yeshua no es asunto de religión sino de relación. Con ellos no es la ceremonia o la liturgia, ni es el tipo de alabanza o adoración o sermones, pero el día a día, minuto a minuto el papel que su mejor amigo y Salvador juega en sus vidas.
Este Salvador, este Libertador no juega a los juegos de la mente de ellos ni ha sido una especie de inquisidor o el monitor quien espía a diario para asegurarse de que no se caigan de la gracia de sus propias doctrinas y fábulas.
Por lo tanto, mi viaje a Israel hace unos días fue con un propósito preciso: colaborar con los líderes internacionales a pocos con el fin de crear una coalición mundial de Sefardíes Judios Anusim con un problema en el corazón. La cuestión es declarar a los poderes establecidos en Israel, que no tenemos la intención de convertir de nuevo y, posiblemente, a mentir o defraudar a la realidad de lo que realmente somos y dónde estamos en nuestra vida personal con Yeshua. Nuestros propósitos Aliá no son para evangelizar a Judios, después de todo, a nadie y todo el mundo es responsable de las decisiones que toman. Nuestra intención no es ser misioneros secretos que entran en la tierra de nuestros antepasados sólo para eliminar pronto la máscara y golpear en la cabeza con diez biblias libra. Nuestra intención es que los vasos que Dios usa para cumplir con los tiempos finales profecías que aún no se han cumplido. Nuestra intención es casarse con la tierra (como dice Isaías) y reconciliarse con la familia Judía, y propiciar en el Mesías. Eso es todo-de ser la voz del que clama en el desierto: "Preparen el camino para el Señor."
