TRUMPET BLASTS!

--Fire Drills--
Trumpet blasts can really get our attention and they're about to do so in a few days!

God's plan has always been to get our attention when He has something of great importance to say. One of the things a trumpet blast does is to unsettle you because it can startle you if you're not ready for it.

God's intent is to unsettle us from business as usual so that we might pay close attention to what He has to say.

In chapter 19 of Exodus, near Mount Sinai, God blew His trumpet so hard that everyone trembled! These trumpet blasts grew louder and louder as they continued! (Exodus 19:19)

On the evening of Friday the 18th the trumpets will begin to blast all around the world as we enter the biblical Feast of Trumpets. This is also known as Rosh Hashana or the Jewish New Year.

These trumpet blasts will be repeatedly blown through the entire 1st day of the New Year on the 19th of this month. In fact, they'll continue to blow all the way to the Day of Atonement known also as Yom Kippur 10 days later. And they'll continue all the way to the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkoth) which begins 15 days after the trumpet's first blast. Guess what. They'll even continue to be blown for 8 days throughout the Tabernacles feast.

If you've been counting, we come up with a total of about 22 days of blasts. While Yom Kippur is the holiest and most solemn day of the year because of the "ATONEMENT" miracle, we'll have a "blast" enjoying the other feasts, especially Sukkoth.

There's one more thing I'd like to add before closing. Four times throughout these feasts God demanded a fire. He required "an offering made to the LORD by fire." We all know that fire burns things up into ashes.

The infamous day of 9-11 really got our attention! We saw a humongous ball of fire in the news every day for a long time. I still can't get over it.

My concern is this - God wants us to burn with passion for Him. He wants us to burn up anything that stands on the way between us. And He wants to cleanse our ways as individuals and as a nation. We need to pray that our nation gets back in line with God but it begins within our own soul. I know we can do it. I know I MUST do it.

Finally, trumpet blasts were used to alert the nation (of Israel) about danger and war. May I humbly remind you that there's sure a lot of stubble out there all around the world that could easily kindle a huge fire. All we need is one strike of a match before we see nations going at each other. No need to remind you that the financial outlook is dismal and political diplomacy is probably more hypocritical than ever before. Thus I humbly admonish you to keep your flame burning and your ear attentive to God's trumpet signals.

Shalom,
