"The exiles from Jerusalem who are in Sepharad will possess the towns of the Negev." (Obadiah 20)

A Star Emerges From an Eclipse
"A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel."- Num 24:17

An incredible thing took place a few days ago, during the solar eclipse on Tuesday July 22nd. I'd like to talk about it and give you my personal view of its prophetic implications.

The sun was eclipsed by our planet over 6 minutes in parts of the world. (By the way, 6 is the number of man.) Parts of Asia were in relative darkness in the middle of the day. While I was in the Negev Desert of Israel, I saw nothing but a whole lot of sunshine.

What's quite significant is that this solar eclipse has come in the middle of two lunar eclipses both within a month apart. The first one occurred in early July and the second in early August.

The BBC showed amazing video footage of the manner in which this eclipse took place. At the end of this footage, guess what clearly and unequivocally showed up - The Star of David! Yes, the six-point star also known as the Magen David Star. It was a brilliant and most glorious demonstration of light coming out of the very sun's corona. In Spanish, corona means crown.

The sun's corona turned into the Star of David which shined so clear you didn't have to guess what it was. It was clearly defined and lasted a few seconds before it hid behind the sun.

Could there be a prophetic sign in this? I think so. Let me attempt to explain.

In terms of the lunar eclipses, I believe the moon represents Israel; and the sun represents all the nations under the sun. One reason why I say this is because Israel's calendar is based on the moon, or a lunar calendar. In fact, each day on the Jewish calendar begins in the evening and ends the following evening.

On the other hand, most nations around the world are based on a solar (or Gregorian) calendar such as ours in the USA. In other words, we begin our year with January and end with December, not so the Jewish calendar. Therefore, I believe the sun represents all nations under the sun while the moon represents the people and Land of Israel.

However, the brilliant Star of David emerged like a flaming star out of the sun, not the moon. Why was this?

In his attempt to curse Israel, the false prophet, Balaam, said, "I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel. (Numbers 24:17)

Just as Balaam attempted to cause harm to fall on Israel, many nations throughout history and around the world have attempted to curse and get rid of Israel. They've done so by persecuting and attempting to annihilate the Jews. This is particularly true of Israel's neighboring enemies that are fixated on wiping Israel off the map?

Meantime, big name politicians and popular "stars" are dying or withering at the vine. While many states within our own nation (such as California) all the way to our nation's capital are caught in a life and death economic struggle, God is raising HIS STAR. It's very significant that God's star is emerging during these dreadfully dark times which have shrouded the nations under the sun. We're truly living in an eclipse of days!

I have a profound sense about the meaning of this marvel that came out of the darkness of the sun's eclipse. I believe that, after many generations of God's dealings with the Gentile nations He has now made a strong shift toward Israel and His Chosen People. I'm not inferring that He wasn't tenderly dealing with them but He's now catapulting the Nation of Israel into an orbit that can usher in the coming Messiah. Yes, I'm saying we've entered the eve of a Messianic Era in which Messiah will come forth from Israel's Zion to judge the nations that have stood against the "apple of His eye." (Deut. 32:10)

So, could it be that the oracle of this star coming from behind the solar eclipse be a sign of the coming Messiah that'll rule from Zion from where the light shall stream to the ends of the earth?

I'm impressed at heart with the words of Psalm 89:35- 37, it reads:

"Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness-- and I will not lie to David-- 36 that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun; 37 it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky." (my emphasis)

Yes, indeed, I am of the strong hope and belief that Messiah's coming sooner than we think! And it's time to remember what the Psalmist said, "The heavens declare the glory of God." (Psalm 19)

Obadiah In closing, I'd like to tell you that I've written a historical novel which speaks about key end-times steps which lead to Messiah's coming. This novel is based on the Bible prophet of Obadiah and how it sets the stage for end-time events which usher in the coming Messiah. The title is, "Obadiah-the despised prophet of Sephardim." I must say that I'm not too much into novels but this one was born in the very heart of God. Check it out on my website at
