"The exiles from Jerusalem who are in Sepharad will possess the towns of the Negev." (Obadiah 20)

This is a two part newsletter to kick off our New Year. The first part deals with out need to get organized. The second is prophetic as I share what God has revealed to me for this New Year and the following years through 2011. So let's start with our serious need to get organized.

DIVISION OR COALITION?
"United we stand - divided we fall." We've entered a year when this saying is truer and more crucial than ever.

Since I was a child I used to hear that Hispanic/Latinos are much divided. In fact, I have witnessed many times when fellow (Sephardic) Latinos would use harsh words to tear each other down. The reality is that in some cases some of our folks lack simple diplomacy. However, I want to say that while this is a generalization, there is some truth to it within certain circles. I do believe we've come a long way but have much to learn and to do to remedy this situation.

Hence, I am speaking to those of you, Latino or not, that do not fall into this category of divisionism and insensitivity. I am specifically appealing to those of you that believe or happen to know that you have Sephardic Jewish roots. I'm also appealing to those of you that know you do not have Jewish roots but are committed to the welfare of Israel and the ingathering of all Jews back to their ancestral homeland.

A few years ago, God laid it on my heart for Helen and me to do extensive research in the Ben Gurion Heritage Institute in the Negev. Our goal was to find out what Israel's first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion, had to say about our Spanish/bilingual Sephardic people. We were honored to review Ben Gurion's personal chronicles and memoirs.

The one issue that impacted me the most is that every time Jews as well as non-Jews came to visit him regarding the prospects of aliyah (immigrating to Israel) or blessing Israel in some significant way, he'd always tell them the same thing. He would tell them to return to their country and GET ORGANIZED in order to provide a united voice and a singular image before Israeli authorities. In essence, he would tell them the very same thing I have discovered in the last 13 years of my field research all across Israel - and that's the need to present a united voice consisting of more than just a few.

Helen and I have discovered that Israeli authorities are prone to listen to a voice that represents a multitude of people rather than just a few. They pay much more attention to groups of individuals desiring to make aliyah together than to individual cases. This has always been the case in the matter of Jews making aliyah from any country around the world, including the Russian Jews and the Ethiopian Jews.

The term, "coalition" simply means "union into one body or mass" and includes the need to be in an alliance with fellow members of the coalition. Webster's Dictionary includes the term, "combination" which expresses the reality of many diverse members entering into a coalition by combining their diverse talents, skills and abilities into one united body. In other words, there's supposed to be diversity within some uniformity and uniformity within diversity.

I believe it's time for us to coalesce and set aside the differences that disunite us in order that God's purposes for aliyah be accomplished 'before it's too late.' I say this because Israel needs us more than ever - and we need Israel more than ever as well. We need to come together like the dry bones of Ezekiel's vision or it's possible that we'll remain dry in our own little worlds. (Ezekiel 37) Verse 10 declares that the dry bones that came together became a "vast army." Another version reads, "An exceedingly great army."

I can relate to this vast and exceedingly great army! But it didn't become vast and great much less an army until each individual member complied with the Maker's prophetic demand.

Therefore, to some of you I am encouraging, to others I am challenging and to others I am appealing that we pay the price of getting united so that the 'powers that be' in Israel might listen to us and at last hear our united outcry all across this nation and hemisphere.

This is not a money making venture but we do know that it'll take a lot of money to mobilize our people to make aliyah. This is not a religious group but we are people of faith. This is not a political group but we intend to do as much advocacy as we need to in order to create a need to be heard and subsequently also allowed to make aliyah.

There are three dimensions to this coalition: founders, associates and friends. We already have most of the founding members and would like to identify more. We also have a few associates and need many, many more. Now we need to quickly expand the dimension of our coalition's "friends." Associates are those that want to be involved in as many ways as feasible to them; and "friends" are all of those that want to help by praying, informing others and occasionally helping us out when they can.

Our intent is to keep all coalition members informed on progress as well as hurdles on that lie ahead. We also intend to hold centralized as well as decentralized meetings all across our nation and particularly in the Negev of Israel.

If you'd like to become a member of ACA meaning, "Anusim Coalition of the Americas" email me your response ASAP. I'll send you additional information and a simple one page questionnaire to fill out so that we might have record of all members of our coalition and thus keep communication lines open. (Refer to the bottom of this newsletter for ACA's vision statement.)

Now let's move on to the spiritual and prophetic message God has given me.

WHAT'S IN STORE IN '09 AND BEYOND?
I believe that in times like we're living in these days, we want to know what's in store for us in America and around the world. A lot of folks like to create jingles that rhyme with the New Year such as, "It'll be fine in '09." But to be honest with you, I don't think it'll be too fine in '09 and neither does my overview of this New Year have any rhyme or jingle.

In a nutshell, here's what I'm hearing in my soul. I'm persuaded that '09 is a year of accountability. The sooner we get to counting our blessings, our resources, our assets and liabilities as well as our relationships, the better we'll fair out as this year progresses.

In other words, it's time to start counting, accounting and recounting in order to show ourselves accountable to God as well as to those that really matter around us.

I believe it's a time to take good stock of everything God has given us or allowed us to gather. I'm convinced that it's time to pay close attention to detail and to do our due diligence about our spirituality as well as our daily lives.

In other words, it's time to count the cost at every level. We must count our resources as well as our needs. This isn't a time to begin projects we can't finish, unless God mandates it in our lives. I believe that counting the cost means we must lunge forward in faith and not presumption or in someone else's faith. Counting the cost means we must have a good grasp of what God is requiring of us and do only that-no more and no less. In other words, we need a good plan - God's plan for us.

This compels us to know what God's purpose is for us in general and specifically for this New Year. We must march forward in a determined cadence without looking back or later saying, "I should've this, I should've that."

"But how am I to proceed into this New Year?" some might ask. There is one word that spells out the method within which we're to move persuasively forward. The word is RADICAL. Here's why.

Our nation has entered a very serious cycle of radical situations both domestically and internationally. This nation's president elect, Barak Obama comes from a very radical background personally and professionally. When you couple his past radical actions together with the radical cabinet he's mounting - all within the context of the radical crises our nation is in, it's not difficult to discover that we've entered a very radical year in our nation's history.

So how are we to approach the counting and accountability in our lives and families this year? RADICALLY. We must approach, and if need be, confront the spirit we're in with a radical resolve or we'll suffer severely as we exit this year and begin to enter the next.

So what about next year - 2010? One word stands out: TESTING. Everything that can be tested will be tested in our private lives as well as our nation. As we do our counting and accounting ASAP this year, we'll be compelled by the reality of our findings to take decisive action. We'll want (I hope) to lighten our loads, get out of debt, keep our passports valid and become creative on how we intend to preserve our cash flow. We'll need to be radically creative in executing methods within our families that'll toughen us up as we prepare to be shaken up and tested. I guarantee that every single aspect in our lives will be tested beginning with our faith, our patience and our loyal accountability to God and to one another.

"Do you have a word regarding 2011?" you ask. Yes I do. The reality that jumps at me regarding 2011 is that we'll be entering not merely a new beginning but a radical and new cycle of life that's likened to our historical Industrial Revolution and today's modern era of digital telecommunications. But there's more. Let me explain.

The single word that leaps out during 2011 is the word NUCLEAR! "Nuclear what?" you ask. We've already been in a nuclear syndrome in our nation and around the globe. But the term "nuclear" will become as common as the word electricity, coal or other forms of power.

On the one hand, our nation will leap into a frenzy regarding nuclear everything. Nations that have not engaged in heavy nuclear research and development will do so in the next two to three years. The issue is that newcomers to the nuclear generation will not have the experience or the expertise to treat these substances effectively or the diplomatic savvy which it demands.

So what are we to do? We're to fix our focus on what's right before us this year - ACCOUNTABILITY. Those that can account for their lives and families best have a better chance of avoiding some of the critical pit holes that lay silently ahead of us. We must keep our eyes focused on the prophecies promises which God has ordered for our wellbeing.

In conclusion, I'm convinced that we must instantly leap into a life of SEPARATION. We need to separate ourselves as God's remnant end-times vessels because when He speaks to our heart as He did our ancient forefathers, we must be alert to hear and to take heed instantly. It's not time to tell God that 'we'll pray about it' once He's spoken to our hearts. It's time to become obedient to the point of being radical for Him and opposed to wickedness in this day and age. We need to take the prophet Joel's prophecies with renewed faith and do the kinds of things he prophesied such as fasting, praying, calling sacred assemblies, blowing the trumpet to alert others and trusting God in a new and radical way. My heart is assured that God shall give us the necessary provision and protection as we stay steadfast in His commandments and His Word.

Helen and I wish God's best for you in this New Year!

Vision Statement of Anusim Coalition of the Americas
ADDENDUM

Vision Statement of ACA

-Anusim Coalition of the Americas-

Vision - Israel's first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion always told everyone that would come from abroad to consult with him about aliyah for them to return home and get their people organized. After 13 years of research and connecting with Israeli leaders, we've confirmed what Ben Gurion always stated, hence, ACA is born.

Mission - Please note that our mission is two- pronged: to enable the aliyah process as well as develop a village or community in the Negev for Sephardic Anusim and those called to live and work next to us.

Goals - The four goals above are relatively clear for anyone to understand. We need to unite, to have a forum for communication, to hold summits and special events that enhance our people internationally; and to advocate on behalf of our people at every level of society and geography. The synthesis of these goals is to do the work needed both in the Americas as well as Israel, both at the same time and in harmony with each other.

Roles - Founders, Associates and Friends

ACA Summer Summit in the Negev
We are proud to inform you that we've had the joy and privilege of connecting Sephardic Anusim (Crypto- Jews) and non-Jewish Zionists all across the U.S.A., Latin America, Islands of the Caribbean as well as Spain and various parts of Europe. But our greatest achievement has been to connect with leaders across Israel but particularly the Negev.

Because our achievements have been so significant in the Negev; and seeing how the prophet Obadiah prophesied Sephardim would possess the Negev, we've chosen hold our first and formal summit in the Negev.

Please keep in mind that you don't need to attend our ACA Summit in the Negev in order to be part of it. I'll give you further instruction once I personally hear from you.

Meantime, don't forget to visit our website for general information on who we are and the learning resources available to you.
