D4K Board Member Sheryl Kilgore, Eric, & Christi
Happy Summer from the D4K crew! Things on our end are moving forward with new program potentials and fundraiser opportunities!
First of all, the new Orlando program is moving forward. A school is still being searched out, but the board is being assembled and new partnerships are forming in that area. We are excited to see the growth continue.
We will be holding the 2nd Annual Wells Fargo "Day at that Beach" on Tuesday, July 22nd (see below). This event continues to grow with more coaches, more sponsors, and more kids! Look for a wrap-up next month about this exciting event.
Finally, look for more info about the upcoming San Francisco Dinner With the Stars to be announced soon. It will be the weekend of the SF AVP stop (September 12-14) . We are excited to head to the Bay Area for this event. If you are interested in helping or know people who would be interested in participating or attending, please let us know.
We welcome any ideas about further expansion and fundraising opportunities, or if you just want to volunteer please let us know! Have a great July!

2nd Annual Wells Fargo 2008 "Day at the Beach" THIS MONTH
 The 2nd Annual Wells Fargo "Day at the Beach" has officially been set for July 22nd at Manhattan Beach, CA. Eric & Albert will be in attendance, coaching, along with other AVP Pro Athletes. Last Year, in our inaugural event, we hosted over 100 kids from the inner city to come and enjoy a fun filled day. For some of the youth, this was the first time they experienced what the beach has to offer. A place that is cost-free and is so far from the gang-infested streets they live in each and every day. This year we hope to connect as many kids as possible with the beach and hope that they continue to spend quality time on the sands for many years to come.
 Last year, we had 6 companies support the event. This year we have 20. Our supporters include Baycap, South Bay Ford, Dr. Joel Gould, O'Neill, Wilson Sporting Goods, California Highway Patrol, Mar Ventures, Inc., Upper Manhattan Lounge, Biotene Oral Balance, The Tappan Foundation, Smith Barney, Icelandic Glacial, Ginther, Platinum Timing, Olaya Ink, Kerri Walsh-Chase the Stars,Esplanade Builders, Inc, Chevron, City of Manhattan Beach, and Bo Bridges Photography on board. Also, along with the pro beach volleyball athletes, the USA Men's National Volleyball Team will be in attendance.If you are interested in supporting the event, please contact dig4kids@yahoo.com! |
D4K, ASL, Carson HS Recycling Event
 D4K, ASL Recycling, and Carson High School teamed up to bring a different type of fundraiser. This was an E-Waste drive. People dropped off their broken & unused electronics. Almost 15,000 pounds of e-waste was collected! Look for another E-Waste drive in the fall!

Macy's Community Service Day
 This event was held at the Del Amo Macy's Store. How it worked was we sold $10 coupons that were a donation of $10 to D4K and on June 21st the donor received $10 off a purchase of $25 dollars or more plus 20%. Then on the date of the event, Eric went and signed autograph's, along with giving a volleyball demonstration.
We raised over $2000 from this event! Thanks to Macy's for including us! |
