Our recent 'Dinner with Stars' event was a big success. Beach legend Steve Obradovich graciously hosted the party at his beautiful Laguna Beach, CA home. Among the volleyball  elite who attended were Steve
Timmons, Karch Kiraly, Misty May-Treanor, Dain Blanton, Mike Dodd, Mike
Whitmarsh, Holly McPeak, Jake Gibb, Sean Rosenthal, and Mike Lambert. In one evening we raised close to $20,000. Thank you to everyone who donated their time and money to this event! The Halldale Elementary 'Digging Education' program recently started on Wednesday, May 7. We have 40 kids enjoying a safe learning environment. They are being taught the importance of both education and exercise. This is our second after school program to date this year. More then 50 kids successfully completed the Carson, CA program last month , and in addition to a new found confidence and sense of pride, they each received a certificate of participation and a gift bag that included a brand new pair of Asics shoes!  Dig 4 Kids is growing in leaps and bounds. We have a great Board of Directors right now and our goals are simple and straightforward. The more money we raise the more resources we have to help the deserving children.We hope to be able to surpass our $100,000 October 1, 2008 goal...We are currently $22,000 away,
and have some exciting fund raising events scheduled in the near
future....June 7, at Sangria (Hermosa Beach AVP); June 21, 5-man Golf
at The Lakes in El Segundo, CA; June 21, Macy's Del Amo Community
Shopping Day; July 22, Wells Fargo "A Day at the Beach". For more

Dinner With the Stars Event Recap
First and foremost, we need to thank Steve Obradovich for letting us use his amazing home and helping organize the entire event. Also, thank you to those who donated silent auction items, who donated money, who photographed the event (Ken Delgado & Greg Weaver), and attended this first time event. The "Dinner with the Stars" featured 5 Olympic Gold Medalists (Karch Kiraly, Steve Timmons, Eric Fonoimoana, Dain Blanton, & Misty May-Treanor), 2 Olympic Silver Medalists (Mike Dodd, Mike Whitmarsh), and 1 Olympic Bronze Medalist (Holly McPeak), among others stars (Mike Lambert, Jake Gibb, Sean Rosenthal, & Albert Hannemann) who decided to come support Dig 4 Kids. The event raised close to $20,000! Thanks AGAIN!

2nd Annual Wells Fargo 2008 "Day at the Beach" Set
The 2nd Annual Wells Fargo "Day at the Beach" has officially been set for July 22nd at Manhattan Beach, CA. Last Year, in our inaugural event, we gathered over 100 kids from the inner city to come and enjoy a fun filled day. For some of the youth, this was the first time they experienced what the beach has to offer. A place that is cost-free and is so far from the gang-infested streets they live in each and every day. This year we hope to connect as many kids as possible with the beach and hope that they continue to spend quality time on the sands for many years to come.
Last year, we had 6 companies support the event and we are raising the bar to a goal of 10. As of right now, we have Baycap, South Bay Ford, and Dr. Joel Gould on board. If you are interested in supporting the event, please contact dig4kids@yahoo.com!
