Judianne Jaffe

Judianne photoWhen Judianne Jaffe discovered a lump in her breast, she turned to her brother-in-law who is a Radiation Oncologist at UCLA for guidance.  He told her to immediately go see Armando E. Giuliano, M.D. Director of the Margie Petersen Breast Center at the John Wayne Cancer Institute at Saint John's Health Center.
 
During Judianne's treatment, she became very knowledgeable about breast cancer, and the various treatment options available to her.  One of the most important advantages of her care through Dr. Giuliano was his pioneering use of minimally invasive surgery and the sentinel node clinical trial.  Read more...

25th Annual Odyssey Ball

25th AnniversaryHosted by the John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary, the Odyssey Ball is one of the Institute's oldest and most beloved traditions. This year's soirée will be held at the elegant Beverly Hilton Hotel and includes dinner, dancing, performances and an award presentation. The honoree for the 2010 Special Service Award, "The Duke" is the Insitute's own Lois Rosen. She is sure to be in good company as previous award winners include Donna and Harvey Rosen, Joyce Green, Larry King and Nancy Reagan. Read more...

Research and News

Mark Faries, M.D., was quoted in MD Consult in an article about three clinical factors that identified thin melanomas likely to harbor occult nodal metastases saying, "Such information could be used to reassure extremely low-risk patients who may be anxious about the possibility of metastases or convince patients at higher risk of the need to consider sentinel node biopsy."
