As we enter into the second week of October - Greyhound Awareness Month - please consider attending the events this week!
- Fall Block Party and Blessing of the Hounds - Sunday!
Join GALT at the One Arts Plaza Fall Block Party! The festivities will begin at noon on Sunday, October 14th with food, music and more to entertain you! Dogs are welcome! GALT will be there with the GreytStore and this will be the setting for the Blessing of the Hounds and Memorial Service at 3pm. Memorial Balloons can be purchased online (choose the Balloon Memorial option) or that day at the GALT booth.
Come on out and help us spread the word of what wonderful companion pets greyhounds are!

 The 22nd annual Swing with the Legends Golf Tournament features the opportunity to play golf on October 17th with a Major League Baseball Players Alumni member. Our greyhound ambassadors will be there to represent GALT!

It's October and that means it's time for the Pup Crawl.
Join us on Saturday, October 20th for the 3rd Annual Deep Ellum Pup Crawl & Poker Run.
Registration begins at 12:30pm at Reno's Chop Shop Saloon.

Southwest Art Gallery, GALT's partner in fine art, is hosting an Opening Reception on Saturday, October 13th from 1-5 pm featuring renowned artist, John Cook. Drawing with a brush rather than a pencil, Cook creates "A Kind of Impatient Realism" as you can see in his painting, "Greyhound Race."
Mr. Cook was introduced to the wonderful world of greyhounds when he contributed a painting for the Southwest Gallery Art Auction benefiting GALT in 2011. While at the gallery, be sure to browse GALT's "Animal Whimsey" line of jewelry for sale created by Texas artist Donna Pizarro. Southwest Art Gallery is located at 4500 Sigma Road, Dallas 75244 and is open Tuesday - Saturday 9-6 and Sunday 1-5.

NEWS YOU CAN USE
We all hate it when our beloved greyhounds aren't feeling well. But sometimes it's hard to tell when it's an emergency. Here are some conditions that mean you need to go to the vet or emergency vet now:
- Severe difficulty breathing with bluish or white gums or tongue
- Severe trauma (broken bone, heavy bleeding, eye injury, burns)
- Poison/toxin exposure
- Heat stroke
- Bloat
- Uncontrolled vomiting
- Choking
- Severe seizures
- Unconsciousness
