Greetings!
It's summer, and it's fun... fun... fundraiser all the way! Our online auction begins this Saturday, and we've got some items you won't want to miss! Over 200 items ranging from jewelry to artwork to apparel and lots in between will be up for bids - Did you know that GALT's very own Radar Berner is an artist?! He creates some lovely works of art and donates them to GALT to help his fellow greyhounds in need!

Also happening this Saturday is our Dirty Dawgz Dog Wash fundraiser, and with this heat we all know our dogs could use a good bath! This is open to all breeds, so bring your crew. A clean dog is ultimately a happy dog (even if they don't seem like it in the moment). Baths are $14.95 and all fundraiser proceeds benefit GALT injured and special needs greyhounds like the recent Harlingen greys and Ginger who was a stray from FWACC.From 9am-5:30pm at Dirty Dawgz, 4801 West Park Blvd. Plano.

2013 Greyt Gala Committee Now Forming!
The 2012 Greyt Gala - Faith, Hope and Charity was GALT's most successful gala fundraiser ever! The monies raised from that event enabled us to continue to uphold our Mission and continue to live by "No Grey Turned Away". We are committed to a repeat (and even better!) performance this year but cannot do it without the help of our volunteers. We need your help to make this year's event a success for GALT and the greyhounds!

VOLUNTEERS FOR DOG WASH
GALT is partnering with Dirty Dawgs to host a Dog Wash Fundraiser on Saturday, July 21, 2012 and we are calling all volunteers! There will be two shifts available: 9:00am - 1:30pm and 1:30pm - 5:30pm. If you are free that Saturday and would like to volunteer, please contact John McQuade. Dirty Dawgs is located at 4801 W Park Blvd. Ste. 421, Plano.
If you cannot volunteer, we hope you can find some time to bring your dog(s) out for a bath!

FEATURED GREYHOUND
Ralph, formerly Fate, aka About Fate, is a handsome, 7-year-old white and brindle male born March 15, 2005. His sire is the Irish bred Larking About, and his dam is Winks Willow, making his grand-sire the late famous Molotov. Ralph's racing career of 116 races started at Dubuque in Iowa on September 9, 2006, moving to Valley Race Park in Harlingen, TX, then back to Dubuque and finally ending on February 27, 2009. He was in a home for two years, but has since returned to GALT. He's ready to begin his search for a forever home once more! Ralph needs to have canine companionship.
Ralph's cat test: Ralph is not considered cat tolerant. He had a one-track mind to get the cat from the get-go.
If you have toys that need playing with, Ralph is your greyhound! He likes to collect them, shake them, toss them, squeak them, and sometimes loves them to death. Ralph likes car rides and walks too, but toys are king with him.
Ralph thrives when he has other dogs around, and he currently lives peacefully with several other greyhounds and a sheltie. Ralph has great manners in the house, aside from an urge to get up on the sofa. But he will get down when we tell him to, albeit with a look of pitiful suffering in hopes that we'll relent. This goregous boy would love to snuggle on your sofa if you'd let him!

INCOMING DOGS
Ginger is an untattooed, petite, fawn female who arrived via Fort Worth Animal Care and Control. Ginger was picked up as a stray. Her age is estimated to be between 6 and 8 years. She is thin and has a heavy burden of intestinal parasites which are being treated, however she is very thankfully heartworm negative!
Derek is an untattooed, white & fawn male born in 2004. He had been in a home for six years, but was surrendered to GALT due to financial difficulties.. Derek is a sweet, big boy who lives peacefully with cats.
Doc, aka Keeper Dockery, is a 2½-year-old fawn male born September 27, 2009. His dam is Welcome Beauty, and his sire is Black Streaker, making his grandsire the champion Unruly. Doc's 21 race career started at Gulf Greyhound Park on May 6, 2011 and ended there on October 8, 2011. He was surrendered to a Harlingen shelter in July 2012 along with Selena and Heather.
Selena is a young, untattooed black female whose age and medical condition is being evaluated. She was an owner surrender to an animal shelter in Harlingen, TX, along with Doc and Heather.
Heather is a young, untattooed brindle female whose age and medical condition is being evaluated. She was an owner surrender to an animal shelter in Harlingen, TX, along with Doc and Selena.
