Galt relies heavily on our volunteer foster homes, and we would like to send out a big thank you to our wonderful team of dedicated foster families! However, we are always, always in need of new foster homes.
We pride ourselves on getting our Injured Reserve dogs into foster homes immediately. However, the recent inundation of 10 heartworm positive dogs has put a severe strain on our foster system. And sadly, two eight year old dogs, Carbon and Timex, are still waiting in boarding and can't begin their heartworm treatment until foster homes are found.
Adding to our foster home strain this month was a need to move as many dogs out of boarding as possible for two weeks of Spring Break - it's a busy time for boarding facilities.

TIA UPDATE
We have received permission from one resident to set up a new feeding station, and are working on getting permission for one or two more in different ares of the same neighborhood. We have new flyers to pass out to neighborhood residents this weekend to spread awareness and acquire new locations for feeding stations and the camera. Please keep Tia in your thoughts and prayers. FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY
On March 31st, GALT is partnering with the Texas Handgun Academy to offer a concealed handgun license class as a fundraiser benefiting GALT. Classes are $100 per person. For more details on what to bring or to register, click HERE. Driver's license, U.S. passport, or state I.D. required.

FEATURED GREYHOUND
Cash, aka Uhaul Cash, is a 3.5-year-old brindle male born March 14th, 2008. His sire is Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Ozsum Flyby. Cash has 71 races to his credit on Greyhound-data.com, all at the Palm Beach track. He started his career on January 3, 2010 and ended it on June 25, 2011. His tail has been recently docked due to injury. Cash is ready to "cash in" on a forever home. Cash has not yet been tested with cats or small animals.
Cash is a love bug. He really likes to be with his people, and will push in for attention if another dog is getting petted. He is very food driven, but has learned to wait his turn when we are putting the food dishes down, and will wait for Woody to finish his meal so he can lick his bowl (just in case he left something). He is a very smart boy, and learns quickly. Cash sleeps calmly in his crate at night, and is learning the house rules very quickly. He likes to walk, but doesn't pull on the leash. He has not discovered the joys of toys yet, preferring to bask in some petting or run the occasional zoomie in the yard.

This is a busy season for vacations and with spring break coming up, we need to reduce the number of dogs in boarding. If you have been considering fostering, or know someone who is considering fostering, now would be a great time to jump in! If anyone can help, even temporarily, please contact Jennifer Vilches at jennifer@vilches.org. Greys in Boarding at BARK! and Top Paw Resort are Kit, Flash and Kyrie. Greys at Houn' House waiting to be medically processed are Ida, Darlin abd Dedi. Timex and Carbon are waiting for IR foster homes.
