"FAITH, HOPE & CHARITY"
 March 3, 2012 HILTON DALLAS IN SOUTHLAKE TOWN SQUARE 1400 Plaza Place, Southlake, TX 76092 Cocktails & Wine 6:00-7:00pm Gourmet Dinner 7:15 pm $125 for a single ticket purchase $100 per ticket (when two or more are purchased at the same time) For almost eleven years, the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT) has been not only the organization of choice for retired greyhounds requiring adoption services, but often the adoption organization of last resort for many injured, abused, and neglected Greyhounds.
GALT's mission of "No Grey Turned Away" has resulted in unconditional intake of greyhounds no matter what their medical needs are. For some of these greyhounds, the journey to a forever home comes relatively quickly, Many others require vast amounts of medical care to treat broken legs, heartworm infestation, tick borne blood diseases, the ravages of near starvation plus time to heal. As a result of this dedication, GALT saw its annual operating budget increase from about $280,000 in our fiscal year 2009-2010 to nearly $400,000 in our last fiscal year 2010 -2011 due to increased medical and rehabilitation costs for these sick and injured greyhounds
The monies raised from your ticket and auction purchases will provide the funds needed for GALT to continue to provide care and substance for the injured, sick, abused and neglected greyhounds.
Your FAITH in GALT, your never-ending HOPE that every Greyhound has a loving home, and your CHARITY at this event will make that possible.

MEND A BROKEN HEART WITH A CANDYGRAM!
 With the large number of heartworm positive dogs GALT has received over the last few weeks, won't you consider brightening one (or more) lucky dog's Valentine's Day with a special Candygram and help mend a "broken heart"? A $10 donation will put a candy heart with your name or an "in honor of" on the dog's webpage for the rest of the month of February.
GALT has 15 dogs in its care being treated for heartworms - that's a record number! Angie, Blade, Carbon, Charity, Clooney, Cupcake, Dani, Harry, Jasper, Nutmeg, Onyx, Sophia, Stetson, Stewart and Timex could all use a little extra love this Valentine's Month. Give them a little piece of your heart here.

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY
On March 24th, GALT is partnering with the Texas Handgun Academy to offer a concealed handgun license class as a fundraiser benefiting GALT. Classes are $100 per person. For more details on what to bring or to register, click HERE. Driver's license, U.S. passport, or state I.D. required.

NORTH TEXAS IRISH FESTIVAL

The 30th Annual North Texas Irish Festival is March 2, 3 and 4th. It will be a busy weekend for GALT as it is the same weekend as the Greyt Gala, so we are looking for a few multitasking volunteers to bring their greys (and foster greys) to the GALT booth on the 3rd and 4th to talk to the public about the wonders of greyhounds as companion pets. Shifts will be from 11am to 1:30pm and 1:30pm to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday! You will have plenty of time to get home and change for the Gala on Saturday evening, so mark your calendars! Greyhounds and humans alike really enjoy this event - just ask Uma!

10 INCOMING DOGS
Cash aka Uhaul Cash, is a 3 1/2 year old brindle male born March 14, 2008. His sire is Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Ozsum Flyby. Cash has 71 races to his credit on Greyhound-data.com, all at the Palm Beach track. He started his career on January 3, 2010 and ended it on June 25, 2011. His tail has been recently docked due to injury. Cash is ready to "cash in" on a forever home! Cash has not yet been tested with cats or small animals.
Chan aka WW's Jackie Chan, is a 3 1/2 year old black male born June 4, 2008. His sire is Trent Lee and his dam is WW's Royal Rose. Chan has 56 races to his credit on Greyhound-data.com. Between November 7, 2009 and May 7, 2011, he moved between four tracks: VictoryLand, Derby Lane, Wheeling Downs and Palm Beach. This handsome boy is ready for retirement - is he the zoomie acton hero to add to your home? Chan has not yet been tested with cats or small animals.
Kyrie aka Flying Kyrie, is a 2 1/2 year old brindle male born July 25, 2009. His sire is Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Flying Liturgy. Kyrie has 65 races to his credit on Greyhound-data.com, starting at Naples-Ft. Myers and ending at Palm Beach in Florida. His first race was on December 19, 2010 and he retired on November 16, 2011, winning 15 races in his career. This happy boy is ready to meet you! Kyrie has not yet been tested with cats or small animals.
Smoke aka CJC's Smoke, is a 4 1/2 year old white and black male born July 8, 2007. His sire is Dragon Fire and his dam is Greys Real Nifty. Smoke has 53 races to his credit on Greyhound-data.com, all at Wheeling Downs. His first race was on February 6, 2009 and his last on June 27, 2010. This big boy was stressed by his trip, and is resting in a foster home after being treated for hypothermia. Smoke has not yet been tested with cats or small animals.
Windy aka Wind Blow By, is a 5 1/2 year old white female with black ticking born June 26, 2006. Her sire is Flying Penske and her dam is Little Modoe. Windy has 15 races to her credit on Greyhound-data.com. Her brief career started on April 29, 2008 and ended on August 7, 2008 and included 6 wins.
Gertie aka Gunpowder Gertie, is a 4 year old blue fawn female born October 16, 2007. Her sire is Maryville Rumble and her dam is Hoops Slamdunk. Gertie has no races to her credit on Greyhound-data.com. She was injured in an accident at the farm after returning from the track - her left front leg has been amputated.
Ida aka Ina's Ace, is a 5 1/2 year old black female born April 17, 2006. Her sire is Oshkosh Slammer and her dam is Touche Baby. Ida has 22 races to her credit on Greyhound-data.com starting on November 24, 2007 and ending on August 30, 2009. She raced at Orange Park in 2009 and at Derby Lane in 2007 and 2008.
Felicia aka Craigie Felicia, is a 6 year old fawn female born October 22, 2005. Her sire is Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Craigie Roan. Felicia has no races to her credit on Greyhound-data.com, however she does show over 100 races on Trackinfo.com, so it's possible she had quite the career from 2007-2008.
Darlin aka Rock N Darlin, is a 6 year old black female born July 26, 2005. Her sire is Late Late Show and her dam is ICU Darlin Dog. Darin has no race to her credit on Greyhound-data.com, however she does show 86 races from 2007-2009 on Trackinfo.com. Darlin went on to whelp a litter of four registered puppies on January 1, 2010 with sire Dragon Fire.
Dedi aka RJ's Detriot, is an 8 1/2 year old white and black female born June 5, 2003. Her sire is Larking About and her dam is Wix Acclaim. Dedi has 28 races to her credit on Greyhound-data.com, starting on January 12, 2006 at the Mardi Gras Racetrack, and ending on July 1, 2006 at the Flagler track. Dedi went on to have more offspring than races! Her first litter of eight puppies with Sire Gable Dodge was whelped on August 27, 2007. The rest of her litters were with sire Gable Oscar: another eight puppies on May 6, 2008, eight more on June 16, 2009, and a final five on March 13, 2010.

FEATURED GREYHOUND
Trudy is a brindle female who is approximately 5 years old. Her tattoos are very difficult to read, and are still being researched. Trudy and Milo were received from Fort Worth Animal Control as part of a cruelty seizure - they were thin and covered in ticks. They were found in a vacant lot in a makeshift holding pen in absolutely filthy conditions. Thankfully, Trudy tested negative for heartworms when she arrived, but she suffered from low platelets and had a positive titer to Ehrlicihia Canis. She has been sucessfully treated for both and has completed her medical procedures. Trudy is ready to find her forever home!
Trudy is not cat tolerant.
Trudy is guaranteed to reduce eye-strain since she'll bump my elbow and put her head in my lap for some petting if I've been on the computer too long. She loves to be in the same room with me and is very affectionate. Trudy has great house manners, and continues to ask her foster brother to play even though he's a sedate soul and doesn't want to. She likes collecting her squeaky toys to shake and toss around. Sometimes she'll collect my slippers on her bed too, but just to have them near her - she doesn't chew on them. She jumps into action if she hears keys or leashes jangle, and keeps the rugs slightly askew in her haste to move from room to room. She's a "talker" and will definitely let you know what she's thinking from time to time. Trudy love activity and enjoys having children around - she's calmly curious about them.

GREYS IN BOARDING
Greys in Boarding at BARK! and Top Paw Resort are Kit, Chan, Marvin and Kyrie. These dogs are being boarded at Houn House: Timex, Carbon & Stewart are all heartworm positive and foster homes are desperately needed so they can begin treatment. If you can help foster, please contact Jennifer Vilches at jennifer@vilches.org. These dogs are being boarded at Houn House waiting to complete their medical procedures: Windy, Gertie, Ida, Felicia, Darlin & Dedi.
