Fusion CD
RAFA's November 12 Flute Fair guest artists Jill Felber (flute) and Dianne Frazer (piano) joined forces to release 'Fusion,' a CD of seven fused arrangements of melodies from Strauss to Ian Clarke, Foster to Rachmaninoff, Handel to Faure and more. Their RAFA appearance will include a concert featuring several of these clever arrangements. Copies of the CD will be available for sale in the Exhibit Hall that day.
Jill and Dianne offer this explanation of the project:
"This recording is a fusion in so many ways. Two friends who met 25 years ago unite to blend evocative melodies, classical and non-classical. This project was born to honor the souls of family and friends gone by and to warm the spirits of our new friends."

Second Winds
The Second Winds will meet on Sunday, December 4th, at 2:30 p.m. in the parlor at St. Philip Lutheran Church on Falls of the Neuse Road. We would love to welcome newcomers -- or people wishing just to observe or to try us out. The Second Winds is an every-other-month gathering of adult amateur flutists who want to overcome performance anxiety. We are a friendly, supportive group and welcome the performance of solos and/or duets. No commitment is necessary for continued participation. Come and try us out!

Needed: RAFA YouTube Flute Choir Coordinator!
The RAFA YouTube Flute Choir started in 2011, met a few times, and recorded flute choir pieces for YouTube (check us out at RAFA's YouTube Channel.) We also performed at the National Flute Association's annual Convention in Charlotte this past summer.
Sonja Noykos would like to continue conducting the group, but is looking for someone willing to take over the coordination of the group. Michelle Dunn has agreed to take over the video production (including posting on YouTube), so that is already a huge help.
The coordinator's important job would include: publicizing information about upcoming recording sessions, copying and mailing music to participants, and emailing participants with details regarding the session. The coordinator may or may not help select repertoire and assign parts. Beginning in 2012 and beyond, the group will meet twice a year to rehearse and record music-- once in the spring and once in the fall.
Please contact Sonja Noykos if you are interested in playing this essential role in the life of the RAFA YouTube Flute Choir! Sonja's email is sonjanoykos@gmail.com and her phone is 616-634-3292.
