Namaste,
We are almost at the end of summer...already! Here are some offerings for September, including a year-long teleconference for women called Living Grace Fully and a new art-making telly, the first of a series for this year, called The Extravagant Gesture: Making Art at the Edge.
What i am noticing a lot these days, in myself and in others, are moments of cognitive dissonance: the experience when the mind is saying one thing, a should or a shouldn't, for example, or the naming of some condition as this or that, and the heartbodybeing is having a completely different experience--usually below the neck. It doesn't matter if what is being said comes from inside our own minds, or outside from another person or institution. We feel conflict, mis-aligned somehow, something doesn't feel right, and we may not know specifically what it is. The heart and the body can tell us a deeper, truer truth than the mind can ever articulate or know. If we pay attention to this feeling of dissonance, we can notice and feel a split between the words and our own direct experience. They don't match up. For example, your mind tells you you should go back for that PhD, or bustay married, or take the job you were offered etc., and your heartbodybeing doesn't feel happy about it, doesn't feel good, and in its own way is speaking its needs and truth in a variety of ways. This is a really important awareness. We can drive ourselves crazy listening to and doing what our highly conditioned thought streams tell us, and we can feel crazy when some one else, such as someone we see as an authority figure, our family, or the government, is telling us something that our whole heartbodybeing senses is not true or is not true for us. Something in us truly can recognize truth, feel what is aligned with truth or not, and can sense un-truth. Check it out for yourself. Your own direct experience, without the thoughts or stories that go with it, is telling a truth the conditioned mind may not be aligned with or know. Notice the next time you are 'struggling' about something, in conflict, or just don't feel as though what you are being told is true somehow. Check in with your heartbodybeing to find out what's going on there. Enjoy the rest of your summer.... yes, enjoy REST! May you rest in Beauty, Sheila

Eve, Snake & Kundalini Awakening
Recently, over the course of a two-week period, I received a large number of emails from women in my Temple of the Sacred Feminine community stating that they had had unusual sightings, experiences, or dreams of snakes. That same week, a beautiful green snake with yellow stripes crossed my path.
Over the last 30 years, since my own Kundalini awakening, I have had significant sightings and dreams of snake. I came to understand that snake is an archetypal symbol of the Great Mother Goddess, incarnate in one of her most universal forms, as well as an ancient symbol of the Kundalini Shakti, the divine energy of spiritual initiation and awakening that lives within each of us. Snake's appearance in a woman's life or dreams can be a harbinger of a threshold crossing, a portal to a new level of embodied feminine consciousness that is emerging. continue reading
