"Where is She? Where is She?" a woman cries into the emptiness. Words appear on the black screen: "I am right here. I have always been here. I am Eve."
Eve's Fire is an evocumentary--a provocative, living document about real women in a contemporary women's mystery school, who are seeking the sacred in their ordinary lives. It is also about Eve, Snake, and a feminine path of spiritual awakening. Snake is an ancient symbol of the Great Goddess and of the kundalini energy that activates spiritual initiation. Women are meeting Snake on a daily basis now, wildly breaking old taboos, following their longing, and biting into the fruit of consciousness.
Eve's Fire addresses women's longing, kundalini phenomena, the initiatory journey, and the Divine Feminine. Archetypes are called forth as portals of initiation: the Mother, Amazon, Lover, Medial and Queen. Women from the School for Women Healers, aged 35 - 79, speak with raw courage of their longing, wanting to die, the death of a child, hiding, body image, sexual abuse, sensuality, ecstasy, and the struggle to embrace humanness. The film offers insight into universal patterns of feminine experience called archetypes.
Eve's Fire is taboo-breaking and heresy, as it shakes up ideas, opens hearts, touches grief, quickens longing, and invites deep inquiry and direct experience. The film invokes our creation myth as a living mystery that is still happening within us: "All women are Eve, and Eve is meeting Snake on a daily basis."
