Beginning in 1999, Doc B Productions
has been a leader in presenting live Jazz entertainment in the Midwest.
Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Doc B Productions has presented some of the
leading National Jazz performers including David "Fathead" Newman,
Freddie Cole, Winard Harper, Bennie Maupin, Azar Lawrence, Ronnie Laws, Larry Coryell, Billy Harper,

In support of youth music, there is a Contemporary Jazz Concert featuring Tom Braxton, the saxophonist with the late Waymon Tisdale, playing with The Urban Jazz Coalition at Withrow High School Saturday December 12th. Details to follow!

The Mike Wade Quintet Live At The Redmoor Thursday October 29th!
The Mike Wade Quintet with Trombonist Marc Fields will be live at The Redmoor October 29th, 2009 at 730pm!
Mike Wade,
currently the Band Director at Withrow High School, began his journey
with the trumpet during his preteen years. While a student at The Duke
Ellington School of Arts in Washington DC, he received a National
Symphony Scholarship to study with Symphony Trumpeters. Following a
year at Howard University, He completed his musical education with a
Bachelors in Music Education at Central State University on full
scholarship.
Professionally
Mr Wade has been prolific in
performing, recording, composing, producing and arranging to his
credit. He has recorded three CD's under his name; "Standard Time",
"The Broach Approach", and "Reality". A fourth CD is currently in
Pre-Production, and will be available late 2009! He
has performed and/or recorded with an all-star list of musicians,
including David "Fathead" Newman, Clark Terry, Gary Bartz,
Mulgrew Miller, Steve Wilson, Othello Molineaux, Bobby Watson, Don
Braden, Jon Hendricks and Annie Ross, Bill Lee, Craig Bailey, Billy
Hart, Bootsy Collins, Earth Wind and Fire, The O'Jays, Teddy
Pendegrass, Reggie Calloway, Antoine Roney, and the Go Go group
Experience Unlimited (EU). Wade
has performed on the Black Entertainment Telivision (BET) "Jazz
Discovery" series, and his various groups have performed at numerous
festivals and concerts around the country. His
groups have opened for many touring jazz acts. Most notably, his sextet
opened for the acclaimed San Francisco Jazz Collective
with Joshua Redmon, Nicholas Payton, and Bobby Hutcherson during their
visit to the Tri-State in 2005. Observers and fans at the concert
agreed that the Mike Wade Sextet
was the best group on the stage that night! His small group, Standard
Time, won the Cincinnati Music Award (Cammy) for best jazz group in
1997.
Mike Wade's musical peers on the National jazz scene think very highly of his talents as well: Steve
Wilson has said of Mike, "Mike Wade has secured his place among the
legacy of great trumpeters...people get ready!" Mulgrew
Miller has said of Mike, "Mike Wade is a very exciting and creative jazz
trumpeter. He is also a very
charismatic bandleader. He is dedicated
and ambitious. It was a pleasure to
play with him". Craig
Bailey has said of Mike, "Mike Wade is one the most inspiring musicians
of the new millennium. He has the fire
and energy that it takes to be a great leader as well as a great artist. His hustle ability on and off the horn will
take him to many new horizons. He is a
name not to forget, as well as a trumpet player not to miss." In 1997, he was named one of the top ten unsigned brass players by Jazziz Magazine.

The Eddie Brookshire Quintet Live at The Redmoor Thursday November 12th!
Eddie Brookshire, a true master of the acoustic bass, and faculty
member at Sinclair College, leads his very dynamic quintet into The
Redmoor on Thursday November 12, 2009 at 7:30pm!
EDDIE BROOKSHIRE (Bass)
was born in Carthage, Miss. and moved to Dayton Ohio at age 6.
Originally a Clarinet player, while in the US Army taught himself
Electric Bass, first toured and recorded with Piney Brown's Blues Band,
then with the Coasters. He formed the fusion band The Casual Society,
and soon joined Rusty Bryant, recording Friday Night Funk with him in
1970. After Acoustic Bass studies with Larry Gales, he joined James
Newton's jazz group. Later, he attended Central State University and
organized the University's Big band, and played in award wining jazz
combos and Ethnic Ensembles in addition to numerous musicianship awards
at jazz festivals. Eddie, listed in Who's Who in colleges, attended
Northern Ill. for grad studies in World Music, where he studied bass
with Larry Grey and Steel Drums with Cliff Alexis. He was a member of
the Down Beat award winning symphonic orchestra, won more musicianship
awards and ran jazz combos for the university.
Throughout and
upon completing college he traveled with Vibe player Johnny Lytle and
backed up Little Jimmy Scott, worked in the bands of Elvin Jones,
Norris Turney, Booty Wood, Sandra Reeves- Phillips, Buddy Webb, Cal
Collins, Pherez Whitted, Karl Allen, Little Johnny Taylor, Lowell
Folson, Bill Holman, Bob Curnow, Maria Schneider, Claude Williams,
Snokie Young, Von Freeman, Jimmy Wilkins, Earl Warren, John Carter,
Billy Harper, Benny Maupin, Jimmy Owens, Nathan Davis, Woody Shaw,
Slide Hampton, Gerri Allen, Jay McShan, Roy Ayers, Wilbert Longmire,
David Fathead Newman and Azar Lawrence. Eddie is a former Member of
Kishwaukee Comm. Symphony Orchestra, present member of AAJC-IAJE Big
Band, listed in The United States Achievement Academy College Directory
(86-87), NAFEO award for excellent performance (Acoustic Bass)
recipient of The Presser Foundation Award (Academic 1986-87). He
currently teaches at Sinclair Comm. College, (Bass, Improv, and Jazz
Combo) and the University of Dayton, (Bass, Jazz Combos). He is a
Member of A.F.M. Union 101-473 Executive Board, and along with the
Quintet he also leads The Eddie Brookshire Big Band.
Accompanying
Brookshire on this date will be Khalid Moss, outstanding pianist from
Dayton, Mark Lomax, the fantastic drummer, Trumpeter Gary Onady, and
the fluid Joe Novotny on Tenor and Soprano Saxophone!

Parking for The Redmoor is PLENITIFUL! There is a driveway on the left side of the complex
that leads to a well-lit closed-circuit monitored area of approximately
90 spaces! All of the parking is off street and FREE!!! Do
not worry about parking on the street, or in Mt Lookout Square; The
Redmoor has all the parking needed for your safe, peace of mind! |
