Friday, 4/16 - Reception for the WSCC Student/Faculty Art Exhibit, 5-6 p.m. Open to the public.

Call to Artists

Applications for the 2010 Center for the Arts Christmas Extravaganza Juried Fine Arts/Crafts Show on Thanksgiving weekend are available.

The show is Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27.at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts.  Booth spaces are $50; table spaces are $20. Application deadline is Sept. 1.

Nobel Peace Prize winner featured this Saturday, April 17 at Mason County's Earth Day event

Henry Pollack

Henry "Hank" Pollack, PhD, one of the world's leading experts on the temperature of the earth, will be the evening keynote speaker at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 17 at this year's Earth Day event to be held at the United Methodist Church of Ludington.

The event is open to the public with a freewill offering to benefit the cosponsoring organizations: A Few Friends of the Environment of the World (AFFEW), the Mason County District Library, the Ludington Area Arts Council and Sandcastles Children's Museum.

Dr. Pollack and his colleagues on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore.

Dr. Pollack's latest book, World Without Ice, will be the focus of Pollack's speech. At an informal reception following his talk, Dr. Pollack will be signing copies of his book, World Without Ice. Books will also be for sale at the event.

Copies of Dr. Pollack's book are available for sale in advance at Windowsill Book Shop, 107 S. James St., downtown Ludington, 425-3421 or on loan at both the Ludington and Scottville branches of the Mason County District Library.

The full day of Earth Day activities, sponsored by AFFEW, begins at 11 a.m. April 17 at the United Methodist Church, 5810 Bryant Road. For more information, visit www.affew.org.
