Pop & Me this Friday, March 26 at 7 p.m.

Pop & MeThe new, monthly film series at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts continues Friday with the award-winning documentary, Pop & Me.

Richard Roe and his son, Chris embark on a 26-country journey around the world.  While dealing with the strain this six-month trek brought to their own relationship, the pair listens with tears in their eyes while a father and son in war-torn Kashmir talk about their love for each other, and interviews fifth and sixth generation father and son gondoliers in Venice's watery passages. In Monaco, Julian Lennon confides what it was like to be the son of a Beatle.

The Roe's on-the-road footage is interspersed with their home movies from the '70s, making this a heartfelt exploration of the bonds fathers and sons share.

The documentary was a viewers' favorite on the film festival circuit; it won the audience award for Best Feature Film at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival and the audience award for Best Documentary at both the Marco Island Film Festival and the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival.

Roger Ebert says Pop & Me "...is undeniably a feel-good experience."  It's "made with rigor, humor, and no small amount of honest emotion," says the Los Angeles Times.

This film will be followed in April by another documentary, Whaledreamers. In May through August, the Center will show films about art and artists and in September through December, it will show foreign films.

Films will screen the last Friday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Center. Tickets for each film screening are $7 per person at the door. Popcorn and beverages will be available for purchase.
