"Who the "Bleep" is Jackson Pollock" this Friday, February 26 at 7 p.m.
The new, monthly film series at the
Ludington Area Center for the Arts continues on Friday with
the captivating documentary, Who the (Bleep) is Jackson Pollock.
The film has been
described as an adventure story that documents a woman's 15-year war with the
art world, lifts the veil on how art is bought and sold in America, and
introduces audiences to the funny, profane, and thoroughly unforgettable
Horton.
Teri Horton, a 73 year-old long-haul truck driver, picked up a painting in a thrift shop. When she went to sell it in a garage sale a local art teacher recognized the painting as a possible work by famed American artist Jackson Pollock.
What followed pitted a blue-collar worker against the highest and mightiest people in the art world
and would perhaps change forever the way art is authenticated.
This film will be followed by two more documentaries in March and April. In May through August, the Center will show films about art and artists and in September through December, we will show foreign films.
Films will screen the last Friday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Center. Tickets for each film screening are $7 per person at the door.
Popcorn and beverages will be available for sale. |
