Free readings by distinguished Michigan writers and a film screening to boot!

If you enjoy good writing, a good story or a good film, plan on attending one of the free events at this year's Ludington Writers' Conference at the Center.

Ivans xtcOn Thursday, Sept. 17, the film, Ivans xtc, will screen at 7:30 p.m. Co-writer and star, Lisa Enos is a Ludingtonian and will be teaching the screenwriting workshop during the conference.

On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19, also at 7:30Anne Marie Oomen p.m. the conference's faculty, Jack Ridl, Bonnie Jo Campbell, Anne Marie Oomen (right) will be reading.

Thursday, September 17 - Ivan's xtc - Film Screening at 7:30 as part of Ludington Writers Fall Conference - free and open to the public.  Ludington native Lisa Enos stars in and co-produced this 2000 film about the mystery behind the death of a fictional Hollywood agent.  Enos will be at the film screening and is leading a screenwriting workshop during the writers' conference.

Friday, September 18 - Writers Conference reading at 7:00 p.m.  Free and open to the public.

Friday, September 18- Scarecrows on Parade: Deadline to register your scarecrow.  Click here to download a registration form.

Saturday, September 19 - Writers Conference reading at 7:00 p.m.  Free and open to the public.

Saturday, September 26 - Scarecrows on Parade: Installation Date.

October 3-15 - Scarecrows on Parade: Judging and Scavenger Hunt

Saturday, October 10 - Barn Red Film Screening at 7:00 p.m, in conjunction with the Barns & Byways Tour.

Saturday, October 17 - Scarecrows on Parade: Winners of Scarecrow Contest and Scavenger Hunt announced at Apple Jam (see below).

Saturday, October 17 & Sunday, October 18 - Apple Jam - Panning Family BandFeaturing music, art, food, and fun of the season.  The Panning Family Band, aka Fiddle Fire, performs on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.   House of Flavors will be offering free ice cream cones for the kids.  More details to come.

Wednesday, October 21 - Hammer Dulcimer class, 1-4.  Offered through WSCC's Academy of LIfelong Learning.  Email Ruth for more information or to register.

Saturday, November 14 - Chicago Folk Singer, Mark Dvorak in Concert.  7:30 p.m.



Friday, November 27 - Christmas Extravaganza Holiday Fine Arts and Crafts Show - 1-8 p.m.

Craig Convissor

Wood working artist, Craig Convissor is having a solo show of his sculpture and functional art at the Todd and Brad Reed Photo Gallery in Ludington all this month.  The artist's reception is Friday, September 18 from 6-9 pm.
