Art Lecture: Abstract Expressionism
Thursday, May 7 p.m.

Gorky Dan Connolly returns to the Center for the Arts this Thursday, May 7 for the last in a four-lecture series about major periods in recent art history.

Abstract Expressionism was the first truly innovative and original movement of American art and it quickly made New York the artistic capital of the world.

American Abstract Expressionism drew from the earlier developments of European Modernism, as well as movements closer to home, like American regionalism.

Dr. Connolly will  look at those precedents, as well as paintings by De Kooning, Gorky, Pollock, Rothko, and Kline.

The lectures are open to the public.  Suggested donation of $5 for each lecture will benefit the Ludington Area Center for the Arts.
