Greetings Everyone! |
 Please forgive me for getting this newsletter out so late this month. In a perfect world - I would have my act together at all times, but as we know, there isn't anything perfect in this world - least of all me.
I'm on my way to the north woods of Minnesota to speak at a women's retreat this Saturday and Sunday. I drove from St. Louis to Minneapolis via Illinois and Wisconsin. WOW, the leaves are beautiful this time of year! I stopped at a little out of the way gas station to let the puppy out to potty and get a cup of coffee. While checking out, I noticed a bag of cheese curds on the counter. I ask the attendant, "Don't these curds need to be in the fridge?" She responded, "Oh no, these were made fresh today. They need to sit out for a while before getting cold."
With that information, I had to ask, "What's better, cold or fresh curds?"
"Oh, fresh ones, even if they are warm!"
Being a curious Sanguine, I asked, "WHY?"
Answer: "Because they squeak when you eat them."
I had no idea that you can tell fresh cheese from aged cheese by the squeak!
Well, I left this little gas station with fresh cheese curds and a cup of coffee. It's true - they squeak when you eat them! They tasted so good - too good, I could feel every fat cell in my body fluff up like popcorn, but it was worth it!
Sept was a busy and wonderful month for my husband and I, we became grandparents for the first time. Jenna Elizabeth Robbins was born Sept. 9, 2008, weighing in at 7 lbs. 1 oz. This is the first girl born in the Robbins family in over 50 years! We are thrilled to say the least!
APT was wonderful. I know many of you wanted to come this year, but couldn't make it. We all missed you! But, good news - we are already planning next year's conference. Tentative date and place: November 6 - 8, 2009, in the Philadelphia, PA area. If there is a topic that you would like to see taught this coming year, please contact me and I'll see what we can do about it.
I hope you all can find time to enjoy the beautiful fall colors and cooler weather.

Dear God, I pray that my work will be a lasting monument to your faithfulness in my life. Whether it is taking care of children, comforting a grieving neighbor, visiting a sick friend, teaching a class, developing a special project, managing money, or whatever the task, God show me if it is bringing glory to You. If it is not, help me to recognize how and what I should be doing or not doing. If it is, then give me the strength to keep on doing what pleases You. Please give me the desire and faith to give the first fruits of my increase to you. May you be glorified, my God, the source of all blessing. In Jesus' name, amen.

APT 2008
Wonderful - Great - Fabulous!
To quote Lisa Kloetzli, "Stellar!"
APT was a success - again! Along with the regular in-depth personality information we added new topics, which made the conference a hit. I taught the sessions on Learned Personality traits, Emotional Needs, Business Basics, etc.
Jaclyn Rowe taught us stage techniques that can take us from being good speakers into becoming great speakers.
Jami Kirkbride gave us fabulous small group activities, helping us turn our workshops into exciting learning experiences. Jamigave us tips on how to get bookings without being to painful.
Sue Thompson bought us up to speed on the history of how the personality systems came into being. She also gave us a great lesson on Business Etiquette - business cards are more than just paper with information on them!
On top of all this great information we had a photographer come and give us all wonderful new bio pictures.

Next month I will high light the Certified Persoanlity Trainers who attended APT 2008 and updated their bio information - you will love their new pictures!

Congratulations!
Lynn Kirkbride and Heather Greer
I am so excited to congratulate Lynn Kirkbride and Heather Greer for completing the Basic Personality Training. Both of these women have wonderful plans as to how they are going to incorporate the personality information into the businesses, hobbies and churches where they work and minister.
Heather Greer runs a summer camp and teaches personality information to the children who attend the camp. Kids get it! Just think how much easier life could have been if we had known this information sooner in our lives! Heather has also started to write a book on how spiritual gifts and personalities work together. I look forward to reading this book!
Lynn Kirkbride (pictured below) works for the State of Wyoming as the Business Leadership Network/ MentorABILITY Coordinator. She helps businesses understand the benefits of hiring the handicapped. Here's where understanding personality traits can make a huge difference. Determining what are personality based issue versus handicap issues, could make the difference between recovery or staying a victim.

As I have said earlier, I want to introduce you to some of the people and programs I have had the privilege to encounter over the past few years. Some of these programs will not apply to you now, but you never know when the time will be right. I feel it's better to be exposed to new ideas and programs long before you need them, so when the time is right, you're not making a mad dash to find them -- you'll know where to look.

Writing your Bio
Oh the pain of it all! Well here's a simple formula that can help the process go faster and smoother. Barbra Sundquist has a few easy steps to help you out. She also has "fill in the blank" templates.
Barbra says:
Answer these questions:
who you are
what your expertise is (credentials and experience)
why the reader should care about your expertise
how the reader can contact you
Although your bio is about you, it is for your reader.
So be sure to mention how your expertise will benefit your reader.
Some examples include: Will they learn something from you? Can you solve their problem? Would you be an interesting speaker for their event? Might you be the perfect fit for their job opening? These are the types of questions readers have in mind as they read your bio. I hope this information has been helpful to you!
