Thanksgiving/Customer Appreciation Sale

We recently turned five years old! It's our birthday and we'll have a sale if we want to.

To show our appreciation for all the support and appetite you've shown us through the years, we're throwing our special birthday sale to coincide with your Thanksgiving cheese purchases.

We'll be bringing in exclusive cheeses including Hook's 15-year-old cheddar, Hopelessly Bleu from Pure Luck Dairy, Harbison, Rogue River Blue and truffle-studded Sottocenere. We'll also be fully stocked on Thanksgiving staples such as Lucky Layla butter, Sarvecchio parmesan and Roth Kase Grand Cru Gruyere. We're also considering installing a disco ball and putting a Donna Summer album on repeat. We'll keep you posted on that.

If you haven't visited the warehouse in a while, then perhaps you're not aware of all our recent updates. Since this summer, we've installed a frosty AC unit, a shiny refrigerator case stuffed with new products like cheese curds, Gaeta olives, and Fra'mani Salami and (drumroll please) we are now able to send you home with beer and wine!

Five Dairymaid years is something like 21 in human years--it is now legal for us to buy/sell alcohol. But we still all wear matching t-shirts.

Sale details:

Friday, November 18 (10am to 6:30pm) and Saturday, November 19 (10am to 4pm)

$5 off $25 purchase

$20 off $100 purchase

*Discount does not apply to wine and beer purchases.*

Pre-Order Your Thanksgiving Cheese!

Coming home from the grocery store without the pumpkin you needed for pumpkin pie is as much an American tradition as Thanksgiving itself.

Lucky for you, you pre-ordered your cheese for the big feast so there's nothing to worry about. You did, didn't you?!

The sale is only good for Friday and Saturday, but you can order cheese ahead of time for pick-up between Friday, Nov. 18 through Tuesday, Nov. 22.

Pick up from either our warehouse or the Rice University Farmers Market on Tuesday.

Order with this cool order form. Phone and email work well too.

*Note* We will be closed from Thursday, Nov. 24-Sunday, Nov. 27.

Give the Gift of Cheese: Holiday Cheese Boxes

Keep your holiday shopping quick and cheesy!

Send us your nice list and we'll take care of your gifts. We have new selections this year, from an all-goat box to the Texas Trio plus add-ons like Oregon hazelnuts and Potter's crackers. We've even added a cheese-of-the-month club for the insatiable.

You can place your orders online for shipment anywhere in the U.S.

SpeakCheesy Cheese Classes Continue

Charlotte's cheese classes are more like School of Rock than Stand and Deliver, though like both she is very inspirational. At left, she's cranking up the Raclette toaster for our Alpine cheese class.

The cheese-ucation wraps up for the year with a final blue cheese class on Thursday, November 17. We'll taste a range of blues, learn about how they are made and how best to enjoy them.

Classes are always held at the Dairymaid warehouse and learning is enhanced by samples from our new beverage selection. Class begins at 6:30pm, but students are welcome to arrive anytime after 6pm. A spot at the table is $30 plus tax, and you can sign up online here

Houston Dairymaids is a five-year-old venture by a team of cheese professionals.  Part business and part exploration, our goal is to meet artisan cheesemakers, learn about their craft, and bring the best of their products to Houston.  Through the farmers market, cheese tastings, and other cheese-focused events, we hope to share our experiences while expanding the offerings of specialty foods to our community.
