Does Your Introduction Put People to Sleep?

Which is better?

"I'm a Recreation Division Manager" OR-

"I turn recreation staff into leaders."

"I'm a reference librarian" OR-

"I can help you find the answers to all your questions."

The second example in both cases is a Benefits-Based Introduction. To create yours, focus on:

  • the results and benefits of what you do.
  • the people that you help.

Try using a benefits-based introduction BEFORE your title. You'll come across as a solution provider, and capture the interest of your listeners.

HOOK Competition!

Here's another opportunity to win big.

Transform the following exercise into a HOOK for a training or presentation you currently do. Your HOOK can be for the training as a whole, OR just for one specific module. Here's the exercise:

Tell participants to sit with both feet on the floor. Then tell them to lift their right feet off the floor and begin to make clockwise circles. Once they are doing this, tell them to lift their right hands and draw the number "6" in the air. Everyone's foot will change direction!

Send me your HOOK by June 30th. The winner will receive a $25 Starbucks card!
