Five Keys for Successful Meetings
Michael Wilkinson, author of The Secrets of Facilitation, provides five "P's" to prepare for a meeting:
1. Purpose: Why will we meet? 2. Product: What will have changed as a result of the meeting? How will we know we were successful? 3. Participants: Who needs to be there, and why? 4. Probable issues: What concerns will likely arise? Any hidden "gotcha's" we should surface before or during the meeting? 5. Process: What steps should we take during the meeting to ensure we get the product?

Just a reminder: A good Hook engages your audience from the get-go. You can use almost anything as a Hook! Just make a logical link between a seemingly unrelated anecdote, question, activity, quiz, or whatever, and YOUR subject matter.
Here's the factoid, direct from the New York Times:
"Did you know...that Delta Airlines saved $210,000 a year simply by removing one strawberry from salads served in First Class?"Send your Hook ideas to Guila before May 20, 2012. Only ONE competitor will win. We will publish the winner's Hook in our next newsletter. |
