When Leaders Train
Leaders don't always train effectively.  How can you avoid common pitfalls?

Release Stuck Thinking
When training or facilitating, use these guidelines to crack through your participants' self-imposed thinking barriers.

1. Challenge the use of ALL, ALWAYS, and NEVER.

Example: "Always? Is there ever a time when that isn't the case?"

2. Force specificity.

Example: "What specifically are you referring to?" or  "What specifically would need to change to make this happen?"

3. Challenge assumptions.

Example: "What would occur if you moved ahead anyway?"

Glass Half Full or...
You can use these variations on a theme
  • To illustrate a point in your presentation,
  • As a classroom exercise: Ask your participants to come up with their own sayings,
  • As a clever HOOK for your material.
