You Ask, We Answer!
"If the dentist discovers a problem but I get a new job and new insurance before the problem is fixed, will my new dental insurance deny the issue as an existing condition?"
Excellent question!
While dental insurance is not like medical when it comes to pre-existing conditions, there are some things to keep in mind. Your coverage is specified by effective date so when changing jobs, your previous employer will specify an end date to your coverage and your new job will determine a start date to your new coverage!
If you are changing coverage in the midst of dental work, there are ways to maximize your benefits and ensure you will be covered for your treatment. The effective dates are available by contacting your insurance provider directly as well as the HR department of your company. Be cautious of waiting periods on major work which can sometimes be up to 12 months when starting a new plan. We encourage you to be proactive with your policy and ask our knowledgeable insurance coordinators if you have any questions!
