| Controls Upgrade at the San Antonio Express-News |
 Goss International recently completed a controls upgrade at the San Antonio Express-News on their Colorliner presses. According to John Martin,Vice President - Production at the paper, "as a result of the upgrade, we are experiencing faster operations along with a reduction in makeready waste. The installation was flawless with no interruptions to our daily routine. The Goss team was great. They were patient, answered all of our questions and made sure we were all properly trained."
The Express-News will continue to upgrade its press with the installation of Goss digital inkers.

 M-600 Press Line Enhancements

Water Pan Insulation |
|
This enhancement incorporates an improved version of the water pan in the dampening system which has been redesigned to address issues associated with sweating or condensation. The water pan upgrade comes with a new standard "sandwich" coating that provides improved insulation, minimizing the formation of condensation which could drip on the web and cause web breaks.
The Prepress Interface (PPI) enhancement is an Interface between the CTP and the CPC1.03. This software package converts the Computer-to-plate CIP3 format files to PPF+ files.
CPC-1.03 Upgrade with Omnicolor
The Prepress Interface (PPI) is an interface between the CTP device and the Omnicolor consoles. The software package converts the CTP CIP3 format files to PPF+ files. This provides an initial setup of ink feed that is much closer to the actual final required values, minimizing make ready time and reducing waste.
Improvement to JF-50 Chopper Table
Offering some of the latest design improvements implemented on the most recent JF-50 series folders, this upgrade improves signature control, reduces dog ears during the chopper fold process, and improves running on light stock.
Presetting Station
The presetting station manages the job data for the M-600 press system. The jobs imported on-line from the Prepress Interface (PPI) are saved and processed further in the database. In addition to its ink setting features and the possibility to preset the number of copies to print, the former position and angle, and the angle bar position (if motorized) can be preset and memorized.
