Great sadness as we lose a Vocaltutor Associate
'Joanna Jones,
(previously Vocaltutor Associate - Clackton), died in a car accident at the beginning of this month. Joanna was a warm hearted, generous, and hugely talented young female, and my thoughts are with her family at this terrible time. Please spare a moment to think of her family at this very sad time. Joanna you were an inspiriation. I will miss you. X Georgina. x'
Here is an article from the BBC News Website: BBC Article
Crash victim was talented singer
Joanna Jones was "a talented singer who touched the lives of many"
A 27-year-old woman who died in a two-vehicle crash in West Sussex which injured three people has been named as Joanna Jones, from Great Leighs, Essex. Ms Jones had been a passenger in a Toyota which was involved in a collision with a Land Rover on Lowfield Heath Road, in Crawley, on Tuesday. Her family said she and her boyfriend had been heading to Gatwick to fly to Venice for a belated Valentines day. They described her as a very talented singer who had sung professionally. "Joanna touched the lives of so many people and left a lasting memory with everyone she met," a statement said. 'Life cut short' "She worked as a freelance music teacher, and sang professionally in a function band. "She was also in an original band called Chasing ORA, which Joanna and her sister Natalie had built up and worked on for years which had just started going places. "It is just so tragic that her life was cut short so suddenly but we know we were blessed to have her with us for 27 years."
Joanna - All at Vocaltutor will miss you so much. x

Singer & Singing Teacher
Distance Learning Courses
Vocaltutor is excited to announce it is now partnering with Vidla, who offer singing teacher training courses.
Flexible courses, and you study in your own time at home.
Here is some more information............ Vocalist International Distance Learning Academy (VIDLA) Vidla are passionate about the training of singing teachers and singers in the Contemporary (non-classical) field. Vidla's Home Study / Distance Learning Courses are a highly effective and affordable solution for those singers who want to study vocal teaching and / or technique in depth.
The Courses
The courses are rigorous but fun and will help you, not only to earn a living as a singing teacher, but also to become one of those important people working to raise the standard of contemporary vocal teaching everywhere. The courses can be tailored to suit your individual needs - they'll even write new modules for you! Alternatively, they offer 'Free Choice' units, which enable you to study an area of your own choosing.
Staff
There staff is headed up by one of the U.K.'s most highly-qualified Contemporary Singing teachers - an inspirational teacher of uncompromising standards - who oversees all of the course development and structure. The Academy's Principal, Dr.Ria Keen holds a PhD in music education, and has an impressive performance background working in theatre, as a solo artist and in session for some of the biggest names in the business. So you can be sure, when you sign up to take a Vocalist International course, that you are in very capable hands. Vocaltutor recommends Vilda courses, to its students and teachers. VIDLA in its current form has been in existence since 2001, but with a history and development dating back to 1983. Since that time, we have been researching and answering the growing need for higher standards in contemporary vocal training.
Where?
Vidla re based in London, UK, with a worldwide student and client base. They are registered with The Open and Distance Learning Quality Council, and have been approved to seek full accreditation status. The ODLQC is an independent accreditation body recognised worldwide, and by all major UK education agencies. It has been at the forefront of accreditation for Distance Learning colleges since its inception in 1968. They are actively pursuing full accreditation, and hope to have become fully accredited by the end of 2009. The courses are unofficially validated by The Vocal Training Association Calamus Extension College. Vidla are on the Register of UK Learning Providers, and you will find them on Learn Direct.
Home Study
Home Study, also known as Distance Learning, forms the backbone of what we do here at VIDLA. You study in the comfort of your own home, without being tied to other peoples' timetables. When you sign up for a Vocalist International course, you will be assigned a Personal Tutor, who will be on hand (via email) to guide you through your studies.
Advantages
The advantages are clear - you get to work at home, in your own time, but you also have the support of a highly experienced Personal Tutor. It works like this: your course materials (written, audio or audiovisual) are uploaded into a secure site which is 'invisible' to everyone except you and the Academy staff. You download the work, or read / listen to it direct from your computer, complete your assignments, then upload your completed work so that your Personal Tutor can mark it. It's easy - and we give you complete instructions on how to do it, so don't worry if you're just a tiny bit techno-phobic! There are courses for singers and singing teachers. Click here for more information............
Don't forget to mention Vocaltutor!

Many of these are new writers who have never even entered a contest before. This has led to many management and publishing offers and recording opportunities for UKSC contestants - see the News page on the website for details of some of these success stories. In the words of Channel 4 Television: "If you really want to make it as a songwriter this is the contest to enter" (Channel Four Television - Ideas Factory).
