The Beyond the Bricks Project of Baltimore, presents its FIRST community education program at Morgan State University on Friday November 12.
Noted psychiatrist, Dr. Frances Cress Welsing will discuss the need for understanding how racism as a system undergirds the education of Black people on a global level. Her book The Isis Papers: Keys to the Colors, one of the bestselling books by a Black author of all time is a must read for anyone working with children in public school systems.
This lecture is free and open to the public

1st ANNUAL HE MATTERS Power of One CONFERENCE
Laurel, MD- The 1st annual HE MATTERS Power of One Conference will be held at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab in Laurel (11100 Johns Hopkins Rd., Laurel, MD 20723) on Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The conference will feature business and community leaders as workshop presenters, dynamic speakers such as the Chief Judge of the State of MD, Robert Bell and former NFL player and Coppin State University's Athletic Director Derrick Ramsey.
The mission of the conference is to empower young males between the ages of 7 and 15, and help them understand the power they possess within themselves to make a difference in the world. The young men will be exposed to workshops on education, the impact of gangs on them and the community, the power of one, and the important transformation from boys to men.
This thought provoking, impactful day will include an awards ceremony honoring young men who have excelled in the areas of Academics, Community Service, as well as Achievement and Character.
