When are we going to WAKE UP!!!! I'm asking people to help me by writing and calling the White House and ask for a National Summit on Violence and Guns. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

My name is Rev. Michael L. Pfleger, Pastor of the Faith Community of Saint Sabina in Chicago, Illinois. For the past several years, we have been very outspoken about the easy access to guns in America and fighting the continued increase of violence that has taken the lives of too many children across America. As you may have heard, Chicago has lost over forty (40) public school children to gun violence this past school year alone.

I am writing to you as a colleague in the fight for justice and peace, trying to put together a National Coalition that will address the issue of gun violence and the death of our children. We are interested in having you and your organization serve as contacts for your city. Below are our three main initiatives:

  1. Send a letter to President Barack Obama asking for him to reinstate the assault weapon ban.
  2. Ask President Obama to consider calling for a national task force to look more closely at the issue of and possible solutions to the national problem of rising gun violence.
  3. Plan a day in September where each contact city would hold a peace rally, calling for a safe, peaceful, and violence-free school year for our youth.

We hope and pray that you will consider joining our efforts as a contact for your city. If you would like more information about our cause or about signing up, please email me at pastorpfleger@ameritech.net or call me or Melech Thomas at 773-483-4300. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said that the ultimate measure of a human being is not where that person stands in times of comfort and convenience, but where that person stands in times of great challenge and controversy. Thank you and I hope that you stand with us.
