Regent Seven Seas Announces New Smoking
Policy
RSSC will be changing the
smoking policy in suites, staterooms and on private
balconies.
Not only does smoking present a fire
hazard, but it is also an inconvenience to other guests
as the smoke, or its odor, invades surrounding suites,
balconies and public areas, creating discomfort for
the guests in these areas.
Smoking will therefore be prohibited in all suites,
staterooms and balconies fleet-wide. This change will
take effect on the following dates:
- Seven Seas Voyager: December 21, 2007
- Seven Seas Mariner: December 21, 2007
- Seven Seas Navigator: December 27, 2007
- Paul Gauguin: December 29, 2007
Failure to comply with this ban will result in guests
being asked to leave the ship at their expense, without
refund or credit for the unused portion of their
cruise.
Click here to view Regent's complete smoking
policy
with a detailed list of public rooms/areas where
guests may smoke.
Destination Update: Italy
Italy is busy and bustling with travelers this year with
September and October as the most popular months.
We recommend booking as early as possible to gain
access to the best properties and most desirable
sites. Do book private tours in advance whenever
possible.
Rome - The Vatican has widely expanded its
8am - 10am early admission from just 5 companies
to 45 operators. That means a lot more competition
for the same tours. Those who do not book the early
admission are subject to lines five abreast and often 3
km long.
The Underground Vatican tour is no longer being
offered through independent companies and must be
booked direct with the Vatican. If you are interested in
this, we do have contact information to apply for this
tour, but be advised that dress code and proper
etiquette is required.
Venice - Visitors to Venice this summer may
get more than a gondola ride and a photo of
themselves feeding pigeons at St. Mark's Square.
The city launched a campaign to encourage tourists
and Venetians to uphold a more respectful code of
conduct. That means, among other things, no bare
torsos in town, no lounging on monuments, no feet
dangling in the canals, no picnics in public places and
no littering anywhere.
Violators face fines of $67 for each infraction, and the
city has deployed enforcement stewards to parcel out
the punishment.

| TIPS FOR SAVVY TRAVELERS: Passports, Credit Cards and More |
| |
Travel Resources such as currency and time zone
conversion, car rental, luggage shipping, travel
insurance, medical evacuation, passport service and
more are conveniently accessed through the Admiral Travel website.
Coping With Passport Delays
Countless headlines decry the inconvenience
travelers experience in their attempts to process
passports. A recent USA Today article told the story of
Adam, who applied for his passport in mid-February
and was still waiting for it in June - long after he was
scheduled to depart for his honeymoon.
With record numbers of passport requests in process
and an unprecedented backlog, ATG strongly
recommends expedited passport processing wit Zeier
Visa Services.
"I have clients who have been waiting a long time for
passports - they may have to cancel their trip because
they didn't take my advice and use ZVS to expedite,"
says ATG's Michelle Andersen. "Passports are taking
MONTHS and, of course, once the passport has been
submitted via the post office, ZVS can not step in."
Please heed this warning. Once a traveler has
initiated a standard passport application process,
there is literally NOTHING we can do.
"I am telling ALL of my clients they need to pay the
money and ONLY use ZVS."
Visit www.zvs.com
to learn more about expedited passport processing.
Notify Your Credit Card Issuer Before Traveling
Imagine the embarrassment and inconvenience of a
declined credit card when checking out of a posh
European hotel or remote safari camp.
In an attempt to protect consumers, credit card
companies have been known to freeze accounts and
decline transactions if they suspect that your account
has been subject to unauthorized charges in foreign
countries.
Don't let this happen to you. Prepare in advance by
calling your credit card issuers to inform them that you
will be traveling abroad with dates and countries you
will be visiting.
It will be a lot easier to anticipate this challenge in
advance rather than go through the process of re-
activating your card while overseas, which can take as
long as 7 - 10 business days.
