Greetings!

We have over 300 sets of iron heads, forged, game improvent and classics.  It's time to give some of them a chance to see a golf course again.  These, and many others will be on display and on sale on Saturday at our Sidewalk Sale.
Buy the Shafts, Heads are "Free"

It may be a long time before you see a deal this good again.  We're putting a huge chunk of our "collection" on sale - from playable classics to modern styles.  For players who know exactly what they want, we'll build your set out precisely to your specifications.  If you don't know exactly what you want, we'll set up a special half price iron fitting ($65).  We'll test the specifications and of your own irons and compare the performance against our demos.  Presuming that we find a combination that works better we'll give you the best club to take to the range or your own course to verify the results.  Then, we'll build an exact copy of the demo.

That's the most efficient way to find the best performance, feel and ball flight.

Prices are low, considering that we completely rebuild the set from the ground up.  We weigh the heads, calculate the target swingweight (or MOI values) and build the clubs as perfectly as can be.  When you pick up your custom irons we set the lofts and lies exactly to your swing.

Our favorite Nippon 950 lightweight steel shafts are just $59.  Aerotech Steel Fiber are $75.  KB Tour are $65.  Dynamic Golds are just $49.  We'll also be offering special pricing on SST PURE ™ services so you can get your new set completely decked out.

Do the arithmetic.  A complete set of custom made irons with high performance shafts.  The starting price is just $480.

Some of our iron heads are brand new.  Others are lightly used.  Think about it, two weeks after you put the irons in your bag, you'll never know that they weren't brand new.  The best way to get a great set of irons for a good price is to rebuild a set of irons that fits your swing and suits your eye.

So, just so you don't have to wonder about what will be available, here are some examples of "Free" iron heads.  Drill down on the email and you'll see that we have a representation of models for all skill levels.

Hagen Cavity Back Blades

We only have one set of these brand new blades.  They came out of a good home - a pro shop back in Illinois.  It wasn't their fault that no one ever wanted to put them in a bag and give them a chance.  They just had the wrong shaft installed.  You'll only find a few tiny marks from living on the shop floor.

Hagen back The finish is bright chrome.  The sole grind is versatile, enough effective bounce to work well on both hard and soft turf.  Offset?  Very little.

You can put this set of 3-P in your bag, shafted with Nippon 950's for $472.

Of course, you can have any other shaft that fits your swing.  You'll be hard pressed to find a nicer set of irons.

Alameda Specials

There's plenty of history that comes with this model.  Over the years, most of the forged blades in the world came from America - and a lot of those came from the Hoffman Foundry.

Baliwick USAIn the glory days of the US golf equipment industry, Wilson, MacGregor and Hogan were all made at Hoffman.  In recent years the company fell on hard times, unble to compete with Chinese labor.  Several groups of entrepreneurs tried to revive the factory.  The Baliwick line was the last gasp of the last group that tried to restore the greatness of American manufacturing.

These are the irons that Emily Childs wore out while she practiced to win the S.F. City Championship.  They're the ones that we replaced for her to take to Colorado.  They're the same ones she's playing today.  She could have any irons she wants but this is the model she plays.  We call them the "Alameda Special" because her sister Carley plays the same model.

If you want the "last of a breed" you can't do better than the Baliwicks, forged at the Hoffman Foundry in the USA - and marked as such.  They will be a collector's item some day, and you can play them while you wait.  Can you believe it?  The heads are free with your shafts.  You'll be proud of your clubs.  We have several sets.
Kahler Classics

Long about the end of the 1990's there was a little golf company that started up in Los Angeles.  They only finished one model but it turned out to be truly a "Classic".  I was so in love with these that I played them myself for several years.

Baliwick USAI had them made in two custom styles.  I always though it was very cool to have irons with no markings so that's the way we ordered our special factory run.  You can have your Classics with the Kahler stamping.  Or, you can have them without any markings, either raw or chrome plated.  It will drive your playing partners crazy when they can't identify your irons.  Just say they're "prototypes".

This is one of the best patterns of forged irons available for "forgiveness".  They are slightly oversize.  There is a little offset in the long irons, but the short irons have zero offset.

We have several sets of each style.  You can't buy a better set of irons for $900.  The Kahlers will be less than half that.
Ram 802's

Ram has always been known for quality forgings, going back to the days when Tom Watson played Rams.

Baliwick USA
Ram had a brief resurgence back in the late 1990's - bringing out this model and the 898's.  You'll have a hard time finding a nicer player's cavity back.

We have two sets, both brand new.  Set them up with the shafts of your choice and you'll have a great set of irons.
"Game Improvement"

Although we emphasize forged irons, we are always on the lookout for irons that are "easy to hit".  If you want to know the real truth, "easy to hit" is an overstatement.

Mizuno MP 60
Forgiveness is more a matter of the size of the head than anything else.  If you choose an iron style with a lot of bounce in the sole, you have to remember that bounce is basically a water ski.  It's there to allow you to hit behind the ball and still move it forward.  If your goal is to hit the ball "solid" you should learn to do that with forged irons.

Game improvement irons rarely give you the "rush" of a nearly perfect shot.  The Nicklaus CT is an "in between" model.  It has the features of game improvement but doesn't have the big bounce sole and isn't a "shovel".  We only have one of these, it's brand new.

If you want to go "game improvement" - you can't do better.

Diamond in the Rough

The best of the Japanese boutique foundries have always made their way by selling "private label" models to the largest golf equipment companies.  Miura produced the Titleist "T Stamp" 681 blades in the early 90's when Tiger was on their payroll.

Bstone HM 55
Miura also made several models to Taylor Made and some for Bridgestone.  Here's a "diamond in the rough".  The 55 MM's are a Miura forging that was marketed by Bridgestone.

The only defect with this set is there's no pitching wedge.  If the set were complete, it would be selling for $800.  The loss of the pitching wedge hurts the value - a lot.  But, you can have a custom made set of Miura forgings for under $500.  All you have to do is add a wedge.

The "Good Stuff"

We've also got a stock of the most popular famous models from Mizuno, MacGregor, Miura, Scratch and Vega.  We're not offering those models "free" but you don't have to worry about breaking the bank if you happen to crave one of the world famous brands.  If you come out for the sidewalk sale, you'll still buy a bargain.

 Mizuno MP 60
We have a few sets of Mizuno MP 60's that we'd grade as "very good" that we'll throw into the "free" bin.  But after that, we're going to offer some spectacular bargains on some slightly used Miuras, Vegas, Bridgestone, and Tour Stage irons.

You'll just have to come to the Golf Lab and have a look at our displays.  We're open all week but to keep things fair, we're not going to make any "early sales".

Figure that your Miura 301 heads will add about $500 to the price of your full set of irons.  In round numbers, lightly used Miuras are going to cost around $900.  Brand new, Miuras and other Japanese boutique irons sell for $200 and up.
How About Wedges?

If you've got your irons all figured out, there's always time to pay attention to your short game.  We have two fabulous lines of wedges.

Scratch SFU 60
You've heard a lot about Scratch lately.  Scratch deserves to be successful.  They made a huge step forward by bringing Ryan Moore into the Scratch family.  We had a chance to see a lot of the Scratch logo - straight from Shanghai where Ryan was in the hunt all week.

Scratch has released a new model that is cast rather than forged.  They're trying to make it into the "volume" arena with Vokey and Cleveland.  (You didn't know that Vokey and Cleveland are cast?)

There's another model that deserves your consideration.  Vega released a line of wedges finished in black with a very coarse grind finish.  I think it's one of the most dramatic of all current models.  Spin?  Is there such a thing as too much?

We don't have a picture of the Vega wedge but stop into the Golf Lab this Saturday and you'll see one of the most dramatic finishes in the market today.

You owe it to yourself to try the new model wedges.  You might be surprised.
Come for the Barbeque

Okay, you don't plan to buy any new golf clubs because you need the money for your depleted 401K.  No problem.
                                             Hagen back
How about a "free lunch?"  That should fit the bill if you're worried about your balances.  Not only free, this lunch will be memorable if you like barbeque.

"Barbeque Joe" is making a repeat appearance at the Golf Lab Sidewalk Sale.  He was a popular figure last year, showing off his award winning barbeque and demonstrating the Traeger pellet fired smoking machines.

I bought a Trager from Joe and I love it.  Recommendations and referrals are the lifeblood of any business.  Joe sells and services Traeger grills.  If you like the barbeque and see how easy it is to smoke meat, you might want one for yourself.
Or, you can just come for a sandwich and slaw.
Stay Tuned

We'll be sending out another email with special promotions for the Sidewalk Sale on Thursday.  This email was simply to focus on irons.  Later in the week we'll have some of our regular commercial products that we'll be including in the sale.

That includes all of our Adams and Nike products as well as some of the best of the boutique lines.  If you've been hearing about Fourteen wedges we'll have a complete stock for you to choose.

There is no big reason to get to the Golf Lab early.  We'll be here all day and we're not going to run out of products.  If necessary, we'll offer rainchecks so come out after your game on Saturday morning.  Fair warning:  We're going to start losing focus about 4 PM when the Big Game starts.

We look forward to meeting up with you this Saturday,

Best Regards,
