Balance Your Clubs with Counter Weights - Free Fitting
One last chance for Golf Lab customers to have their
driver and irons tested and fitted for counterweights.
This is the last time that we will offer this fitting service
for free.
I am absolutely, positively convinced that
counterweights are bound to be the "next big thing" in
custom golf clubs. Not only are counterweights
effective for the clubs you already own - we make your
clubs work better. But also, counterweights open up
opportunities to build golf clubs in an entirely different
way.
I covered that story in my latest Golf Today Magazine
article. Here's a link:
I highly recommend reading "The Newest Crazy Idea".
There is a chance that you won't have to continue to
buy the "same old thing" year after year. This is the
first really radical idea that has come along regarding
the way golf clubs are built and balanced.
Here's what you can expect
You book an appointment for one hour. We will
measure and test your current clubs so we know what
you're hitting right now. We will then have you hit
some shots with your own six iron and driver to
establish benchmark performance. We use the
Achiever launch monitor for a complete performance
report.
Then, we will cut a hole in the top of the grip of your
clubs. For irons, we will test with 8 gram, 12 gram
and 16 gram counter weights. We will insert the
weights and you will hit another series of shots with
each weight. We then compare computer printouts.
You are likely to see and increase of 2-4 MPH of ball
speed. That translates into half a club to a full club of
extra distance.
But more important, you are likely to see your swing
become more consistent. We measure your launch
angle, your swing path and your face angle at impact.
Each of those parameters is averaged which makes
comparing performance easy. If the deviation in face
angle at impact improves from 3* to 1* you can
assume that your shots are going straighter. The
fitting includes complete analysis of all data and you
keep all of the computer printouts.
For your driver, the exercise is the same but we use a
different gizmo. The driver counterweight is the
Balance-Certified Shaft Stabilizer. The Shaft Stabilizer
positions additional weight under your lower hand -
down the shaft of the driver. This has proven to be
even better than simple weights inserted in the butt of
the club.
As with the irons, we test different weights and
compare the performance with detailed computer
printouts.
What is the Science behind Counterweighting?
To be honest, no one has come forward with a proven
theory of why counter weighting actually works. The
principal evidence points to moving the balance point
of a golf club toward a player's hands. That seems to
give a player more control over the club as well as
decreasing the swingweight a little to promote a faster
swing.
Balancing Golf Clubs Makes Sense
On a logical level, balancing golf clubs makes sense.
Baseball players spend years trying to figure out just
what weight and shape of bat gives them the best
control and bat speed. They never stop searching for
the advantage. They rotate favorite bats to find the one
that's working today.
Tennis players go through dozens of racquets to find
the one that "feels right". When you think about it, the
same applies to most sporting equipment, guns, fly
rods, skis and fencing foils are tested and chosen
carefully and frequently customized.
Most golf clubs are assembled in a factory according
to established "standards". The ultimate standard is
the assumption that "one size fits all". That lets
companies run an efficient manufacturing and
distribution operation. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean
that every golfer will get the best clubs to match his
swing.
That can only be done through electronic testing and
extensive real-life experience on the course. That Golf
Lab makes that possible.
After your clubs have been fitted with counterweights,
you are free to take them out for a trial run. We're not
satisfied until you know that your "new" clubs work for
you where it counts - on the golf course.
