Greetings!

We're starting our seventh year at the Golf Lab. 2008 promises enough new equipment and technology to get even the most jaded players excited. Who doesn't want to "buy a better game?" But our first order of business is to let our customers know what is going on with the Golf Lab.

Six years ago, Leith Anderson and Bob Huff founded the Golf Lab. We planned to get ahead of what we saw as the next wave in golf - custom fitting and custom clubs. We did a good job of it, growing sales from nothing to almost half a million dollars. We introduced SST PURE to Northern California and tried some adventures such as fielding the Golf Lab Tour Van. Our fitting and clubmaking techniques are recognized as "Tour Proven" and state of the art. We were named a "Top 100" shop worldwide. No custom golf shop that we know about has been more successful in attracting customers.

Bob married three years ago. Last year he and Laura welcomed a daughter, Samantha. All of a sudden, Bob's priorities changed to think about college educations. The Golf Lab, even though profitable, cannot guarantee enough income to make sure that Sam's tuition will be covered. Consequently, Bob took a new job selling high tech gear. Why not? It's Silicon Valley.

Bob is still involved with the Golf Lab, but on a much more limited basis. Meantime, Leith and Clint have been doing their best to stay up with the business. To be honest, we have been smothered. There have been times that we couldn't respond immediately to calls and missed delivery dates. That's two guys trying to do what three guys used to do. We apologize for that.

 Call for New Partners

We know that we need help in the shop - especially when the season heats up. We're not looking for employees, we're looking for "partners". Over the last few weeks, we've interviewed some fabulous candidates. The next generation of the Golf Lab will have a lot of new talent.

The day will come when the Golf Lab will need new ownership. If you are interested in becoming involved, here's a link to the ad that we ran in Golf Today Magazine soliciting new partners.

If you want more information, we have put together a "History and Vision" document that describes Golf Lab history in outline form together with detailing new business opportunities that we are contemplating to take the Golf Lab to the "next level". Here's that link:

 Industry Briefing January 24, 2008

For over six years, Leith Anderson has authored a monthly column published in Golf Today Magazine covering club fitting, club making and golf equipment. There has been coverage of the "business of golf". Leith will be at the PGA Show in Orlando next week - from the 12th until the 19th.

  • Sunday he will be at the Professional Clubmakers' Society Expo.
  • Monday he covers the KZG - "Top 100" Event.
  • Tuesday it will be the ACCRA Dealers' Briefing and Golf Day.
  • Wednesday is the PGA Show Demo Day at Orange County.
  • Thursday, Friday and Saturday is the "Biggest Golf Show on Earth".

Seven days of "all golf, all the time". Leith is "on assignment" from Golf Today Magazine. He is delivering a "scoop" - the first comprehensive PGA Show coverage - to be published in the February Golf Today. But Golf Lab "Members Only" can get their coverage early and in person - reported in a two hour multi media presentation - on January 24th. The event will start at 4 PM. Call the Golf Lab for details of location. There will be a charge to cover expenses.

We don't have the location locked down but call the Golf Lab if you'd like to attend. If you need more information, click on this link.
