League News
What an incredibly fast season of golf for our 2012 leagues! It seems like the beginning of League play in May was only a month ago. But our shadows on the fairways and greens are getting longer and longer now as daylight is waning, Please continue to play at your home course as the leaves get ready to turn. Let your Pro Shop know that you are a EWGA League player, perhaps a discount on greens fees will come your way.
The Leagues Chair and Committee sincerely hope your league participation was fabulous and fun! We will be sending out a survey to ask about your experience in league play. Please let us know what your thoughts are as we are always looking for ways to improve to make our leagues more enjoyable and fun!
Did you get to play in the variety of golf events offered this season? There were so many great courses to select and join your fellow Chapter members. There are two more events you can check out: The Pine Hills in Plymouth on September 15, 2012 and our Chapter Season-end Event at Juniper Hills in Northborough on September 22, 2012. Please login to our Chapter website and select "Event Registration".
Our League Championship was this past Sunday September 9, 2012 at Blissful Meadows Golf Course, Uxbridge MA. We had 14 out of 17 leagues participating in the Championship this year. Please check our Chapter website to see who won the prestigious title of
"League Champions - Low Gross"
and
"League Champions - Low Net"
Plus our 4 prize hole winners too! The Leagues Committee is very excited about this year's competition. Stay tuned for the results!
We will be announcing the 2013 League Kick-Off event and league sign up for next year in the upcoming news letters. Our League Committee (Sue Weber, Maria Levin, Amy Soisson and Charlene Gaboriault) thank you for being a league player this season and hope to see you next year at League Kick-Off and on the course too.
Enjoy and hit'em long and straight!!
Boston Chapter Shines at Northeast Semi-finals
Fog greeted the early players at the Northeast Semi-finals at Sterling National on August 25th. Heavy, damp air hung over the course for the early starters, but the Boston Chapter ended the day with three slots reserved for the finals in West Palm Beach next month.
Our scramble team, Team Jello, scored a net 68 and won by 2 strokes to advance. Anchored by our Education Chair, Debbie Kirk, and our Events Chair, Lyndsay Ogelsby, and the sure shots Cindi Duclos and Theresa Sacramone, Team Jello had a great day! Boston swept the fourth flight with Maryann Navin scoring a net 71 for low net and Worcester/Boston dual member Linda Valinski winning the flight low gross prize. Kate Collins took home a trophy for 3rd low net in the second flight.
Boston should be proud of its volunteers who handled everything from registration to scoring. Tess Hetzel captained the team of volunteers that included: Mari Ingram, Jill Tyzack, Willa Belcher, Maria Levin, Sue Weber, Susie Guszca, Robin Haley, Linda Gilbert, and Thalia Holmes, Thanks also to Syracuse members Joan Davis and her daughter, Wendy Halik, for providing extra hands for registration and photography.
