You Count

YOU count as a member of EWGA. We invite you to participate in the Every ONE Counts in EWGA membership campaign to experience how YOU have the power to positively impact a friend or colleague's career and personal life by encouraging her to join EWGA.

Find the list of program rules and prizes, and keep track of your progress by checking the spreadsheet posted in the EWGA Member Library inside the Member Clubhouse on EWGA.com.

EWGA + PGA

Did you know that the EWGA and the PGA of America partnered in producing a session at the PGA Merchandise Show last month?

There were over 200 golf professionals and golf industry executives in attendance anxious to hear about "Putting Yourself in Her Shoes: Your Playbook for a Winning Season".

EWGA's CEO, Pam Swensen, moderated the session and EWGA's new "Fair Way Forward" advocacy initiative was announced.

View the video of the session.

Education Opportunities for 2011

Our Education Chair has been hard at work organizing events to get you in the swing this season. Whether you are new to the game of golf or looking to lower your scores, we've got just the ticket to help you develop your game.

Get Golf Ready and Link Up 2 Golf offer group instruction to beginners. Both programs teach everything you need to know to step onto a golf course and play with confidence.

  • Get Golf Ready consists of five one hour lessons beginning on April 12.
  • Link Up 2 Golf consists of six one and a half hour lessons beginning on May 17.

Weekend Warm Up Clinics are for players looking to improve their scores and have some fun in the process. The clinics will be held on Friday nights throughout the summer and will be followed by drinks and appetizers.

All of these programs will be conducted at the Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course

(Putterham Meadows) in Brookline.

More information is found on our Golf Education pages for beginners and intermediate golfers

And the Winner is...

Chris SwistroCongratulations to Chris Swistro for being honored by EWGA as one of the 10 Women Who Lead for 2010. The award recognizes EWGA volunteer leaders who make a difference in their Chapter by achieving outstanding results through outstanding performance.

As our Sponsorship Chair, Chris was nominated by the Chapter for her success in securing both cash and in- kind sponsorships through an

exceptional program, which included Sponsor satisfaction and renewals.

The 10 winners went through a qualification process based on criteria outlined for each

award category. They were selected from a distinguished group of finalists and will receive their commemorative award at the EWGA Golfpalooza in April.

10 Best Kept Secrets

about how EWGA Enriches the
Lives of Women through the Game of Golf

  1. There is an EWGA Foundation. It was formed seven years ago in 2003 as a charitable not-for-profit entity supported by the EWGA and dedicated to enriching the lives of women through the game of golf. It does this in many ways:
  2. For three years, the "Women On ParŪ" Scholarship has provided financial support to women 30 years and older for their undergraduate education to get "on par" with their peers and better themselves. 2011 is the 4th year to enrich women's lives through education and we will award two scholarships.
  3. Outside of the LPGA and the USGA, the EWGA Foundation is the largest single contributor supporting LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, a developmental program designed to bring girls 7 to 17 into the game of golf. In 7 years, the EWGA Foundation has donated over $450,000 to this great program - thanks to individual EWGA members and EWGA and Chapter fund raising activities.
  4. "Drive for Dreams" annually shares the good fortune of many EWGA members with those less fortunate. This has been done by converting slightly used golf clubs into cash and contributing other resources to give the gift of golf. The 2011 recipient is wounded veterans through two PGA of America-inspired programs: GIVE (Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere) and SMGA (Salute Military Golf Association).
  5. The EWGA Foundation provides financial support to bring speakers with expertise in leadership development and facilitation to EWGA gatherings.
  6. The EWGA Foundation provides financial support for the development and refinement of the EWGA Golf Education curriculum. The Business Golf Connection program will be introduced in 2011.
  7. The EWGA Foundation has published a cookbook as part of the EWGA 20th anniversary year celebration. "Recipes for Success - On and Off the Course" includes over 380 great recipes and fun golf games that were contributed by EWGA members and special friends.
  8. Members and guests enjoy a carnival-like fundraising event for the EWGA Foundation Thursday night at the Golfpalooza. It's a great time for a great cause, and let's hope your Chapter will be represented!
  9. Everyone can help by donating to the EWGA Foundation and/or supporting a specific program such as "Women On ParŪ", "Drive for Dreams", buying a cookbook (released in April 2011), attending the fundraising event for LPGA-USGA Girls Golf this October in Palm Springs, or encouraging your Chapter to raise funds through a local event.
  10. The pride EWGA members feel in being a part of an organization that does so many good things for so many through the game of golf!
