Improve Your Game
Golf education and player development is of paramount importance to EWGA. Check out these initial offerings and watch for more to come as the season unfolds. Bring your "A game"!
Breaking 100 begins May 2nd. Are you a beginner to intermediate golfer who wants to learn the physical and course management skills that produce lower scores? Then come to CityGolf at Stone Meadow in Lexington for any or all of these Sunday afternoon sessions. Video swing analysis is included.
The Link Up 2 Golf program offers group instruction to beginning golfers. In addition to golf skills, you'll learn terminology and etiquette that will help you feel more comfortable on the course. What's on the Web
Our website has a host of features. To ensure our members get the most out of the site, we'll use this space each month to highlight some of those features. This month... the Bulletin Board.
Let's say you need a playing partner - or maybe a teammate for the Championship scramble team. With over 400 members, you're bound to be able to find someone within the Chapter. But how? Just log into our Chapter website and, from the Bulletin Board menu, click Post Message. On the Post A Message page, select the Looking for Players category and click Submit. Then, complete the form details and click Submit.
That's it! Your request is displayed on the Bulletin Board on the member home page. Imagine the possibilities.

2010 Chapter Championship
Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 17!
The 2010 Chapter Championship will take place at the scenic Highfields Golf & Country Club in Grafton, MA. In addition to the new venue, we've made some other exciting changes. In response to your requests, we're:
- lowering the cost - significantly!
- facilitating scramble team pairings
- recruiting "Ambassadors" to answer specific questions you have about the Championship experience
The EWGA Championship is the largest women's amateur tournament of its kind with more than 2,400 members participating in 2009. The Championship provides members at all skill levels the opportunity to compete in tournament golf - against members of the same playing ability.
The first round of competition is at the Chapter level, followed by the semi-finals, and then the finals - a 2-day, 36-hole event.
Format
- Stroke Play: In this individual competition, players are assigned to 1 of 5 flights based on their USGA handicaps
- Scramble Team: Teams of four players compete against other teams. The players' handicaps are used to determine the team's handicap.
Look for our table at Kickoff. We'd love to say hello and answer any questions you have. If you can't make it to Kickoff:
- check out our web page for updates
- watch for details in our newsletter
- send us your questions
Your best resource for information will be the Ambassadors who have played in the Championship. We hope to have one from each of 5 flights and a scramble team. We'll let you know as soon as we have our team of experts assembled.

A Little Friendly Competition
Would you like to have some golf competition this summer? Your first opportunity is to play in the Chapter Championship warm-up event on May 26th at Shaker Hills. You will be placed with players with similar handicaps - just like the Chapter Championship.
The next opportunity is to sign up for the New England Cup, the interchapter championship on June 19th at Juniper Hill. The format is single match play for 9 holes followed by best ball of the foursome for the next 9 holes.
This year we are introducing match play. The goal is to have at least 16 players competing over 5 weeks for the honor of being the Boston Chapter Match Play Champion. Scoring for match play is net scoring hole-by-hole.
Watch for more details on all these competitive events on our website.
Ginny Evans has taken on the role of coordinator for the competitive golfer for the Boston Chapter. Her goal is to provide members with venues to test themselves against the golf course and against other members. If you have ideas for competition, please contact Ginny.
