End of Season Message
It seems like it was just yesterday when we were at our Kickoff Event getting "Golf Ready" for the 2009 season and here we are now at the close of the season. I hope that you have taken advantage of the many opportunities our chapter offered to Connect, Learn, Play and Belong.
Thank you to all who have volunteered their time and talents to help run our very successful all-volunteer chapter! Because of the commitment of the league coordinators, event caddies, board and team members, and those who volunteered at our special events, we were able to provide:
-
A new website
-
Kick off Event
-
18 Leagues (including Sunday afternoon)
-
23 Weekend Golf Events
-
New Member Golf Outing with lunch
-
Golf Clinics
-
Mentoring for new golfers
-
Chapter Championship
-
League Championship
-
End of Season Golf Celebration with reduced green fees and chapter-sponsored lunch
But this does not mean that we will not see each other over the fall and winter! Please check the website often as plans are underway for social and educational events.
Please take advantage of the new "Call a Member First" feature and Members' Bulletin Board offered on our website to stay in touch with your fellow golfers and friends.
I have truly enjoyed my year as your Chapter President and appreciate the support that you have given me as we tried new league locations and days and event styles and for your patience as we rolled out our new website. I was fortunate to have a fabulous Vice President in Nancy Coleman and we are extremely lucky to have her leading us next year as we continue to give back to you, our fabulous members.

League News
The annual League Championship competition was held at the New England Country Club on September 19th. We had a great day, the sun was shining and the golf was great. Sixty-four members (representing 16 out of our 18 leagues) played in the event.
The team from Hillview won the over all League Championship. Pictured are Christine Rodriquez, Margaret Crosby (coordinator), Michela Hirnak, and Iris Davis.
The Juniper Hill team of Kathy LeBlanc (coordinator), Barbara Peatie, Susan Hafner, and Jacqui Diggs won Low Gross.

Because of rain this year, most leagues played through early September. In 2010, we will be starting 1 week later and playing for 14 weeks (vs. 15 weeks). |

2009 Chapter Ambassador
Your Board has initiated a new award category to recognize a member who actively supports other members and the mission of the Boston Chapter. The awardee is a member who:
- promotes the Boston Chapter's mission of connecting women to learn, play and enjoy golf for business and for fun,
- is always willing to volunteer for any task and encourages others to do so,
- searches out and welcomes new members at EWGA events, and
- refers new members and positively supports EWGA Boston in the community.
In its inaugural year, the Boston Chapter Ambassador award goes to:
Beth Hayes
Despite being a busy entrepreneur and member of a golf club, Beth is a strong supporter of EWGA Boston in every aspect. A member since 1998, Beth has been a sponsor for our programs, award winning new member recruiter, and has served as a volunteer in many ways, including as a member of the Leadership Team and of the Nominating Committee.
Beth always has a kind word and support for new and existing members. Her ambassador skills were evident this year at our Connections Kick off Brunch, where she spent a good deal of time as a greeter, introducing members to one another and making sure no one was sitting alone during the event. Beth personifies the word "ambassador" in every way. The Board is pleased to acknowledge her many contributions. |
