Our mission is connecting women to learn, play and enjoy golf for business and for fun.  We have many capable and willing members who have the skills, talent, and energy to lead the Boston Chapter.  This is your opportunity to make a positive difference.  Please consider taking on the challenge yourself or nominating another member who you respect
 
Our Chapter Bylaws call for the membership to elect the Chapter Officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, & Treasurer), and for the Officers to appoint Committee Chairs. 
This year, we will be electing officers for the following terms of office:      
 
       President:  one year term

Vice-President:  one-year term

Treasurer:  two-year term
The Board will also be appointing a Secretary to complete the last year of a two-year term as well as several Committee Chairs.
 
Duties and Responsibilities of the Officers of the Chapter Board (as defined by the Chapter Bylaws) are listed below, as are descriptions of the various committees.  Please consider making a leadership commitment.  You may  volunteer yourself or nominate another member who you feel would be a great asset to our leadership and foster the growth of our Chapter.

Officer Duties:
Duties of the President:
  • Serve as the presiding officer of the Board of Directors
  • Set the agenda for meetings of the Board of Directors 
  • Appoint any special committees as deemed necessary by the Board of Directors
  • Ensure that the chapter is in compliance with all requirements of the Association Chapter Affiliation Agreement
  • Serve as the liaison between the Chapter and Association Headquarters

Duties of the Vice-President:

  • Take the place of the President in the event of the unavailability, incapacity, or death of the President
  • Perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors or the President with the intention that the Vice President is preparing to serve as the future President of the Chapter
  • Assist the President and the committees in implementing the Chapter Business Plan
  • Work closely with the Leadership Chair to ensure a strong volunteer base and that a leadership succession plan is in place

Duties of the Treasurer: 

  •  Review and recommend financial policy
  •  Oversee the preparation of the annual Chapter Budget
  •  Maintain financial records of the Chapter
  •  Prepare and distribute to the board at least quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Approve and act as signatory for one or more banks or other federally insured institutions for the purpose of timely deposits and safeguarding Chapter funds.
  • File tax returns
  • Prepare and submit annual financial reports to Association Headquarters
Duties of the Secretary:
  • Retain custody of, and maintain, all corporate records and Chapter governance documents (other than financial records)
  • Record and distribute minutes of the meetings of the members of the Board of Directors
  • Send notices of all meetings 
  
Committee Responsibilities:
 
Each of these teams consists of several members and a chair appointed by the Officers.  The Chapter Bylaws direct that the Chair of each Standing Committee shall:
  • Be a voting member of the Chapter Board of Directors
  • Appoint two or more committee members subject to approval by the Board of Directors
  • Submit information to Communications Committee for newsletter articles and the Chapter website
  • Conduct committee meetings, record minutes of those meetings, and report progress at board meetings
  • Ensure Chapter remains in compliance with Association Chapter Minimum Standards in their respective area and operates in accordance with guidelines provided by the Association
  • Fulfill the specific duties of their committee as outlined below:
      
COMMUNICATIONS
The Communications Committee creates and publishes Chapter newsletters, is responsible for the development and maintenance of the website, and has the opportunity to work with local media.
 
GOLF EDUCATION & PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Know a lot about golf?  Or, do you want to learn more about the rules of golf? Join the education committee and assist with coordinating golf education opportunities for players of all skill levels.

GOLF EVENTS
Do you enjoy planning and running successful events? Never planned an event, but would like to have the opportunity? This team plans and implements organized play opportunities for players of all skill levels.
 
HANDICAP
Be a part of the effort to help other golfers obtain and maintain a handicap.  The Handicap Committee educates members on the need for handicaps and assists members in establishing and maintaining a handicap. 

LEADERSHIP
Do you like to make a difference and assist in the future leadership growth of your Chapter?   The Leadership Team helps link people's natural gifts and talents to the needs of the Chapter.  It works to continually develop Chapter leaders by assisting Committee Chairs with finding committee volunteers and grooming them for a future leadership role on the Board, a necessary step that will take the Chapter far into the future!
 
LEAGUES
One of the most popular forms of organized play is league play.  Be a part of the team that plans and delivers this popular offering that goes a long way towards member satisfaction. 
 
MEMBERSHIP
Assist with recruitment of new members and retention of existing members, greet new members at events, help plan and implement ongoing membership welcome and orientation programs.  The Membership Committee is a great way to get to meet everyone in the Chapter! 

SOCIAL EVENTS
Are you a people person?  A natural networker? This is a great way to get to know the members of the Association by promoting fellowship and business networking. This committee plans
the Spring Kick-off and End-of-Season Events, as well as other non-golf events. 
 
SPONSORSHIP
Are you a great fundraiser?  Can you make the call to the decision-maker? Help develop Chapter partnerships and secure sponsorship dollars and in-kind donations for Chapter operations.  This is a great way to get involved in the community and build local relationships.
