Chapter Championship FAQ's:

How do I know what flight I will play in for the Chapter Championship?

Your flight will be based on your handicap index at the time of the Championship.  Your handicap as of the Massachusetts handicap revision date of July 8th will determine your flight.   The flights by handicap index are as follows:

  • Championship: 0-8.0;
  • 1st flight: 8.1-16.0;
  • 2nd flight:16.1-24.0;
  • 3rd flight: 24.1-32.0;
  • 4th flight: 32.1-40.4

Remember: you must post two 18 hole scores for 2009 prior to the
July 8th revision date.

to get ready for golf season?
Leagues - Putterham
League News:

Go to the Leagues Page at www.EWGABoston.org for the latest news on league offerings.   Based on member feedback, new leagues are being offered this year on Sunday (Putterham Meadows), on the South Shore (Ridder), and on the North Shore (Swanson Meadows)

We have almost 200 people signed up for leagues, with 3 leagues already full.   If a league is full, considering signing up as an alternate -- you will be able to play often.  Over 40 people have signed up as alternates already.  There are still many opportunities to join a league as most leagues still have plenty of spots available.

2009 Events Season

Click here to check out all the details on our new website and sign up today.

We begin with a new venue at Middleton Golf Course on April 25th, followed by
Pinehills in Plymouth on May 2nd and
Butterbrook in Westford on May 9th.

Watch for details of the great weekend planned for Cape Cod on June 5th-7th.  Learn with the Pro at a 2 hour clinic prior to playing the challenging 18 hole executive course at Blue Rock; Sunday play is at Bayberry Hills in Yarmouth.  The weekend package is $299 for 2 nights accommodations, 2 breakfasts, and 2 rounds of golf.
Get ready for the 2009 Chapter Championship
Championship preparation will be part of the activities at the Blackstone National event on May 30th.  (Registration for this event begins on April 15th.)  Prior to play, there will be a short rules seminar to highlight the differences between playing by the official golf rules and playing social golf.

Foursomes will be grouped according to handicap index -- just like in the Chapter Championship.  Every effort will be made to place an experienced Championship competitor in each foursome.

If playing in a scramble team is your choice of format, then create a team and come and play as a team -- by the official rules.

To sign up for the Chapter Championship, go to the Chapter Championship page on the Boston Chapter home page and download the registration form.  Follow the instructions on the form and if you have any questions please contact Ginny Evans at chapterchamp@ewgaboston.org

Kick-off pic2009 Kick Off a Smashing Success
Where else can you attend three golf workshops, shop for fabulous golf and non-golf related items, meet new friends and drink mimosas, all in the span of 3 hours?

At the Greater Boston chapter's annual Connection Kick Off brunch, of course!  On Saturday, March 28, 130 women attended this fun-filled day at the Westin Waltham.  Feedback from the attendees was very positive, especially about the Quick Fire Sessions, which included:
  • What's in Your Bag?  Clubs to Use and Clubs to Lose presented by Matt Griffin, PGA Professional, Director of Golf, Blissful Meadows
  • Rules and Etiquette Rule!, presented by Matt Blasik, Head Golf Professional, The Ledges Golf Club, and
  • 100 Yards Out - What Should I Do?  presented by Brian Bain, Head Golf Professional, Robert T. Lynch GC (Putterham).  Brian even provided a recap of some of his tips, which can be found on the website under Tip of the Week

 Special thanks to:

  • Our amazing golf pro presenters - Matt, Matt and Brian - you were GREAT!
  • The fabulous vendors who supported us and made the day so special!
  • Kickoff committee and volunteers - ladies, we could not have done it without you!
  • The Westin Waltham - the facility and service were second to none!
Now that Kick Off has officially passed, the committee looks forward to seeing you all on the golf course!  (Nancy Coleman looks forward to practicing her approach shots over water.)

Until next year.....
