"I need French toast and waffles sticks!"
My daughter stood in the kitchen, dressed in her Superman pajama pants and a tie-dyed shirt, tanned and thin after a summer working at camp. She returned home four days ago and was bemoaning her return to reality. Meanwhile, I stared at the empty fridge, wondering where all the food had gone. Hadn't I just filled it up before my trip to Philadelphia? "Yeah, well, I'd like to go downstairs to the hotel buffet and get some eggs and a bagel, but this is reality. Get used to it." I winked at her, though. Reality. Reality is laundry piled like Everest in the basement. Reality is a garden choked with weeds and grass in need of a serious drink. Reality is 476 unanswered emails. And Reality is frozen pizza with a family that rarely sees each other. But reality is also waking to the smell of pine and birch, listening to my children laughing at my jokes, talking a walk around the yard with my hubby. It's being among my people, no words necessary. Although I have fun on my travels (Waving at friends in Florida, San Francisco (Cindy, Alexi, Janelle, Tomi!) and Philadelphia (Carol and Rambo and all my GPCWC pals!)) and especially hanging out with friends, the truth is that I'd rather be home, with my laundry and stale cheerios than seeing the world. Reality. I guess that's what vacations are all about...realizing the reasons why we go home. I hope you're all having a great summer vacation! Here's a glimpse of what I did in California (thanks to Renaud and Lee who made the day safe and fun!) The things I do for research! (yes, that's a hint to an upcoming novel!)
Thanks again for all your letters of encouragement this summer! I'm blessed to call you friends! Susan

Watch out Rafe...here comes Stefanie!
While, big brother Rafe, might be up for a RITA AWARD this summer, for Taming Rafe, his little sister Stefanie is beginning an adventure all her own...
Everyone around Stefanie Noble is content, but it seems that her "happily ever after" has passed her by. Then two troubled girls and their older brother, Gideon, show up in town and clearly need help. Could they bring the fulfillment that Stefanie has been searching for?
Hollywood hotshot Lincoln Cash has made a life playing the role of an action hero, basking in the laurels of his fame, fortune, and adoring fans. But when he's diagnosed with a debilitating disease, he knows that life will soon be over. He only has a small window of time to start a new career, one that will earn him legitimate filmmaker kudos. He soon heads to Phillips, Montana, to put his plan into action. Not everyone is pleased with the movie star's arrival, especially not Stefanie Noble. She's even less enamored when he accuses Gideon of arson and tries to run him out of town.
But what Lincoln and Stefanie don't know is that neither the fire nor the other strange things that have happened around town are really accidents. Someone is out to get them . . . but who? And who is the real target?
Check out some of the buzz from the Finding Stefanie blog tour!
Ronie at Supernatural Craving With two powerhouse brothers, I knew Stephanie would have to really pull off a strong, emotionally riveting story--living up to such hunky, heroic brothers is tough, but Stephanie holds her own. I loved this story, and found it very fulfilling and extremely satisfying!
Heather at Fresh Sweet Peas I just *could.not* put this novel down! There is a splendid mix of intrigue, romance, faith and inspiration set in a modern atmosphere. Susan has a fantastic way of weaving just the right amount of imagery into her tale to guide your imagination in bringing the characters to life.
Joy at Five J's ...I continue to be impressed by her writing. Finding Stefanie was an engaging story with dynamic characters and a very enjoyable read. It even delved into sensitive subject matter that I've not seen touched in other novels. I would even go as far as to say that both men and women would find this book especially encouraging, and there are not many Christian fiction books for which that is true. Finding Stefanie is definitely a book you won't want to miss.
Pamela at Pammer's Ramblins I don't know how Susie does it. She takes these awesome characters and drop them into a wonderful setting and then takes you there. The story is always fresh and new, the cast alive and the setting a breathing thing.
Amy at My Friend Amy This book is filled with the same romantic tension, gorgeous prose, and perfect pacing of all of Susan May Warren's books, but I suspect if you read it, it will also touch your heart and speak to the lonely dark places in you. Highly Recommended.
