Greetings! Recently, President Obama proposed eliminating funding for the life-saving program The Rural and Community Access to Emergency Devices Program. This program provides grants that allow states to purchase AEDs, train emergency personnel and first responders in their use, and place them where sudden cardiac arrest is most likely to occur. Communities with aggressive AED placements have increased survival rates for sudden cardiac arrest from a meager 11% to nearly 40%.
Last year with your help, Congress saved this program. Now, we need to act again. Let your member of Congress know that this program is important and continues to need their support. Contact your member today to support funding for increased AED placement, that will save American lives.
Act Today! 1. Click here to find contact information for your members of Congress. (Type your zip code in the box on the upper right hand side.) 2. Send them an email explaining why this issue is important and why it should be supported. You can use one of these sample letters (courtesy of American Heart Association) or explain in your own words. 3. Let us know who you contacted by emailing Adrienne or reply directly to this email.
Thank you for taking action, together we will save lives!
Sincerely, Alice, Laura, Christine, Sarah, Anne, Adrienne, Amy, Allie & Brandon The SADS Foundation
