QuickBooks 2010 - Should You Upgrade?

Every year Intuit comes out with a new version of QuickBooks and every year I get asked whether people should upgrade or not.  Here's a quick highlight of the new features.  If you want to take advantage of a new feature you need to upgrade, if  there's nothing new that excites you, you can stay on your current version.  If you're on Enterprise and have a current Full Service Plan, you will receive your copy of 2010 automatically in the next few weeks.

If you are currently on 2007 and use Online Banking and/or QuickBooks Payroll you will need to upgrade by the end of the year.  Payroll and Online banking will no longer support any 2007 version after March 2010.

What's New?
Improved Report Center - Easily search & find the report you want.  You can now save reports in 'Favorites' and get to the reports you want fast.

Document Manager - Scan documents from within QuickBooks and attach them directly to the transaction in QuickBooks.  Toss the paper!

Customize Templates - This one is slick!  With one click you can add customization to all your templates.  There are many free designs to pick from or you can create your own.  The customization has always been easy but this adds a real professional look to your templates.

Edit Multiple Entries in Lists - Have you ever wanted to make mass changes to any of your lists in QuickBooks but didn't want to have to edit each and ever item?  Now you can edit multiple entries as easy as working in a spreadsheet.

eCheck Deposit - Tired of having to take customer checks to the bank?  Now you can scan those checks and directly deposit them without leaving your desk.  (additional fee's apply).  [$19.95/mo or $9.95/mo if you already have an Intuit Merchant Account, plus $0.23/transaction]

Improved Custom Fields (QBES only) - You can set the format such as date, phone number, amount and even create a drop down list of choices for you custom fields.  You can also have 12 custom fields instead of 7.

Customize Your Company Snapshot - Choose what you see at-a-glance reports.

Enhanced Inventory Assembly Builds - Finally, a template to print when building an assembly to let the warehouse know what what quantities they need for each component.
