Greetings!
Plainly spoken, Miracle Valley needs your help. As many of you know, Sister Harter & I have labored most intensively for the past 9 years. We have seen God move time after time for us during these years. However, we are faced with another major hurdle.
We must get Miracle Valley refinance ASAP. We have applied for another loan, but they sent word back that Miracle Valley does not show enough income to sustain the loan. So you can see it is really going to take a MIRACLE to save Miracle Valley.
I do not mean to be a bearer of bad news, but I do believe in sharing the truth. We must have HELP right now! Time is quickly running out.
Now there are some who have stood with us, and believed in the work of God here at Miracle Valley. These people have donated and invested their money and time. But they are so few when you see the whole picture.
We still have issues with certain county officials regarding the Bible College. I say this without hesitation, Miracle Valley and I have been discriminated against and it has cost us a considerable amount of monies. Even yet, I continue to press on with the county because I believe the Bible College is grandfathered here at Miracle Valley.
For example, we were informed that since the former SABC closed it doors in 1995, twelve months went by without a Bible College in operation. Since I did not arrive until 1999, which means that 3-4 years went by with no Bible college operating on the grounds, this resulted in the lost of our grandfather status of the property being a Bible College. Case closed.
Dr. Robinson, one of our staff members, argued the point that since the property was listed for sale as a Bible college, and since its previous, existing use was never changed to another use, it should still maintain its original intent, and that is, a Bible College. But there was no giving or consideration on the side of the county official.
However, just last October, it was discovered that a local tavern/restaurant, which had been closed for a number of years, was granted its "grandfather status" because it had been listed on the market "for sale." In a town not too far away, a bar that was closed for over 3 years was granted its "grandfather status," even over the protest of its local community, because it had been listed "for sale" as a bar.
Now there is nothing written in the county regulations regarding a property maintaining its "grandfather status" if it was listed "for sale" and not changed to another official use. So, how were we to know of this policy?
When we brought this up to the attention of the county individual, and informed him once again that Miracle Valley was placed on the market and listed "for sale" as a Bible College from 1995 through 1999, and that Dr. Harter had purchased it as a Bible College, the only answer received was that the county had already made its determination regarding Miracle Valley.
Now you tell me if this is not discrimination? The Lord willing, we hope to elect new county officials this fall and then be able to get real justice.
Time after time, I have had various individuals inform me that certain people want the Miracle Valley property and they will do everything possible to acquire it. The fact remains, they certainly do not want a Bible College to remain here.
Where are we at this moment? We must get Miracle Valley refinanced.
We still need $20,000 to close up the open roof in the tabernacle. There are eleven buildings yet that still need metal roofs. The dormitories must be remodeled.
Of course, we hope to get these needed funds for new roofs and remodeling as a part of our refinance package.
We have worked hard in the tabernacle. It was in one of the worse building conditions that I have ever seen. We literally stripped off the old roofing material and replaced it with roll roofing. However, the north side of roof structure was so bad that it had to be totally removed. We must now replace all the beams and the entire deck. This is due to its exposure to rain over the many years.
Friends, if God does not intervene in the next 60-90 days, Miracle Valley will be no more. If certain individuals get their way, the buildings at Miracle Valley will be bulldozed to the ground. Miracle Valley will be gone forever.
I am not talking to you who have no connection with Miracle Valley. I speak to you who have been here. Even though when you came, the buildings were in disrepair, at least they were all still here. Some of them have been beautifully remodeled, second to none.
And I know most people declare "if it's God's will, God will keep it." But don't believe a word of that statement.
There are many things that are God's will, but God's will does not always get accomplished.
Is it God's will for people to be sick? No, it is not. Is it God's will that people die and go to hell? Absolutely not! (II Peter 3:9)
Hell was created for the devil and the fallen angels. But do people still die without Christ and go to hell? Yes, they do.
I know it is God's will for Miracle Valley to be restored. Men of old have prophesied it. But even yet, GOD USES PEOPLE TO FULFILL HIS WILL. (I John 3:17).
Remember, God always blesses those who help with His work.
God richly bless you,
Dr. Melvin Harter
