Miracle Valley Newsletter
Charter School Planned December 18, 2007
Greetings!

Recently, Sister Harter & I went back east, first to attend our daughter Sarah's wedding, and then on another occasion, I spoke at a Church Conference.

During the few times we were gone, some in the general community, who lack real faith, drew the conclusion that Sister Harter & I were simply inquiring about trying to get another place to go to because we lost Miracle Valley. Some even stated a particular date that we were to leave on.

Well, as usual, their prediction has come and gone and Sister Harter & I are still here.

According to the Book of Hebrews, "We are not of those who turn back."

Of course, it is a miracle that we ever came to Miracle Valley. It has been nothing but miracles that has kept us here, and it will be nothing but a miracle that will keep us here.

But one thing is for certain. God is a GOD OF MIRACLES, and I STILL BELIEVE IN MIRACLES.

CHARTER SCHOOL PLANNED FOR MIRACLE VALLEY

These two school facilities, each consisting of four large classrooms that are fully capable of handling 25 students, were used as a grade school by Rev. Allen).

Our committee goes before the State of Arizona Charter School Board on January 14, 2008 to acquire our State Charter.

Much work has gone into this process.  We have crossed several hurdles, and now we final come to the final outcome.

Should we receive our state approval to operate a Charter School, then we will immediately proceed to remodel Allen's two classroom buildings (facilities that accommodated his school during the 1960s).

It will require a lot of work and money to renovate these two structures. They need new metal roofs, as well as total renovation, especially regarding plumbing, electrical, heating & A/C.

We would appreciate anyone who would like to volunteer their labor to help us. We would also appreciate any and all donations to assist us in the remodeling of these facilities.

$50,000 DONATION TO MIRACLE VALLEY

Harvey Russell, an alumnus of Allen's grade school, has committed to make a $50,000 donation to the Charter School at Miracle Valley upon the school receiving its approval from the State of Arizona Charter School Board.

Harvey states, "I believe in what Dr. Harter is doing at Miracle Valley and I want to give something back to Miracle Valley so that others may have the same opportunity that was afforded me."

These funds will serve as "Start-Up Funds" for the Charter School as well as purchase the necessary material for the total renovation of the two existing classroom buildings that initially served as a grade school established by Rev. A. A. Allen in the 1960s.

GOD GAVE DR. HARTER THE PLAN

(This photo is the interior of the Church that Dr. Harter completed in 1984.)

After being at Miracle Valley for about a year, I became very burden in my heart regarding the finances that were required to maintain the property.

In my ministerial background, I only had to deal with one local church building; whereas at Miracle Valley, I now had 15 structures to consider.

Upon my arrival at Miracle Valley in 1999, the former property owners informed me that Miracle Valley had a $10,000 monthly budget. I remembered I looked around. Sister Harter & I have been involved in ministry since we married in 1969. We were both quite familiar with costs and budgets. However, I did not see how Miracle Valley would require such an amount of money each month.

Once we were into it, I discovered quickly that the previous owners had spoken the truth to me. Miracle Valley required $10,000 each month for its normal operation. Now you understand why my heart was so burden at Miracle Valley.

I recall the time I pastored and built a local church. It required more than ten years of my life and lots of hard work. I had thought, if I were to build a college campus, I projected that I needed at least ten buildings; therefore, at ten years each, it would take me 100 years to accomplish my goal. Well, I knew that was not going to work. Time would not permit me.

Now, back at Miracle Valley, I was praying in the Prayer Tower and telling the Lord that I knew He had called me to this place and that I would not be here had He not spoken to me. However, I reminded the Lord as to the monthly obligations Miracle Valley required each month and I wondered exactly how He planned to pay the bills?

It was at this time that I was walking in the Prayer Tower, praying and seeking the Lord about the financial dilemma that I faced. I had walked over to a window that was open. Looking out over the main campus with old Mexico about 3 miles away, God spoke to me in another special way.

God said to me, "What did I tell you to do when you were building your church?" I knew the Lord was referring me back to 1977 when there was no money in the local church to pay for a new church. But after praying, God revealed to me to start a daycare center.

I said, "Why Lord, you told me to start a daycare center." And as I looked out from the window in the Prayer Tower at Miracle Valley, the Lord spoke to me again as my eyes began to look at the various buildings and He said, "Is that not a daycare center there?  What about that building? Can it not be an assisted living home? And those two buildings, can they not become a school again?"

It was at this precise moment that I began to shout and praise God! Yes, Lord! Thank you Jesus! I have my answer. And friends, at that moment, I knew what I was to do.

Well, it wasn't easy. In fact, it was most difficult. Opposition came from everywhere. I had to contend with county officials, deal with various other legal matters and all the while contend with false brethren. But praise the Lord, God stood by my side and gave me the victory each time!

One secret that I learned as a very young man years ago, and that is - I ALWAYS TURN TO THE LORD IN EVERYTHING I DO.

In 2002, the Miracle Valley Assisted Living Home was totally remodeled and we received the State License to operate. Yes, initially it was slow, but within the year, we began to grow until today, the home is full and maintains a waiting list.

After six years of physical labor, financial sacrifice, legal battles, Miracle Valley Childcare Center received its official State License in 2007.

For three years, we have worked to develop a Charter School at Miracle Valley. On several occasions, Dr. Robinson and I literally worked the entire night through, getting proper documents prepared.

All we can do now is wait until January 14, 2008. Our application was submitted and we are on schedule to go before the State of Arizona Charter School Board. If we get their final approval, then we plan to open the MIRACLE VALLEY CHARTER SCHOOL in August 2008.
Sincerely in Christ Jesus our Lord,

Dr. Melvin Harter

From Dr. Harter

I watched an Allen video and notice a particular statement that Brother Allen made. Now remember, the film recordings that are viewed are actual A. A. Allen television programs that were aired across the nation throughout the 1950s & 1960s.

The particular statement that Allen made was the fact that if the viewer forgot Allen's mailing address, it was no problem. He said that all a person had to do was simply put the name A. A. ALLEN on the envelope and it would get to him. Why? Because he said, "Everybody knows me."

Even though Allen has been gone now for some 37 years, there yet remains a segment of society who remembers Rev. A. A. Allen.

However, most of those who are active in Charismatic & Pentecostal circles today no longer recognize the name A. A. Allen or Miracle Valley.

Therefore, Miracle Valley, Arizona and Rev. A. A. Allen will ultimately become lost in certain historical religious books and fade into the sunset.

I appreciated what Rev. Jose Leyva, Superintendent of the Central Latin American District of the Assemblies of God shared with me nearly 10 years ago.

He said that he was at Miracle Valley during the Allen years, that he saw the power of God in demonstration as he had never saw it before. He told of some of the most incredible miracles that I have ever heard of. He said he never seen miracles, healings and wonders on this fashion before. To him, it was like being in Bible days.

And because of what he had seen at Miracle Valley, he felt that Miracle Valley should not only retain its historical significance, but that it continues to be a HOLY PLACE.

But I recognize the fact that the Brother Leyvas in the world have become quite elderly. A new generation has arrived, and they will not remember the wonderful things that occurred in Miracle Valley.

Therefore, there must be a new source of financial income that will sustain what God plans for Miracle Valley.

This is what I was praying about in the vast Prayer Tower that remains at Miracle Valley.

God gave me the plan. Others have joined with me, both in their finances and labor. They have prayed and encouraged me. Praise God!

Even though the battle continues to rage between Good and evil, Light and darkness, God is always pulling us through, even at the darkest hour.

My advice to everyone is found in God's Word - the Holy Bible.

"Lean not unto thy own understanding, but in all thy ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct thy path."

Friends, many Christians are waiting on God when all the while, God is waiting on you.

Some have shared with me over the years that God had called them to Miracle Valley. I certainly did not question their word. I believe that God did call many to Miracle Valley. The only difference was, I OBEYED and they did not.

When God calls you to do something, you need to take immediately action to do that which God has called you to do. Remember, if you fail to obey, God will always raise someone else up to take your place.  Do not miss out with God. Take that step of faith.
