NEARLY 22 years ago, I incorporation Melvin Harter Ministries.
During those days, I was doing evangelistic work in local churches as well as under gospel tents.
I thought at the time of the name that I should give to the incorporation. Meanwhile, the many places I conducted revivals, many churches and individuals simply made their offering out directly to me, Melvin Harter.
I thought it would simply be advantageous for everyone involved to simply call the nonprofit incorporation MELVIN HARTER MINISTRIES. I also felt that it would strengthen the integrity of the ministry, especially if a person's name is listed on it.
Now I would suppose there are others who would be of the persuasion that if a person places their own name on their incorporation that they may be simply trying to build themselves up personally and lead into, if not already, pride.
But I took issue with this factor and believed that if a person included his name on his ministry (incorporation), then it would mean that he must always protect his integrity.
It is so easy to name a ministry (incorporation) some special name and then later, after being involved in an embarrassing situation, simply change the name of the organization to another name, and thereby disallow one's integrity.
Back in 1986, I really did not have any great plans. I simply prayed and waited on God. God began to open doors to me.
A few years later, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and his wife Francis invited Sister Harter & I to lunch during their Crusade in Columbus, Ohio. During that luncheon, Brother & Sister Swaggart invited me to join the staff at the Jimmy Swaggart Bible College & Seminary (later renamed World Evangelism Bible College & Seminary.) I felt the Lord opened this door so my family & I relocated to Baton Rouge, LA where I served for several wonderful years there. The Swaggarts showed sincere genuine Christian love to my family & I while we were there. We continue to count them as dear friends.
Since that time, God has blessed our ministry tremendously. We purchased various properties, started several local churches and formed the Pentecostal Bible Institute.
Then in 1998, God began to speak to me regarding Miracle Valley. God made the way for Melvin Harter Ministries to purchase Miracle Valley Bible College in 1999.
Every Pentecostal preacher alive who is worth his salt is acquainted with the name REV. A. A. ALLEN and MIRACLE VALLEY.
But to say at that time that I was really into A. A. Allen, I must admit that I was not.
I knew Miracle Valley was in Arizona, but exactly where I did not know.
But there is always something that I am fully aware of and that is the VOICE OF GOD.
God doesn't speak to me the same way each time; however, He does seem to speak to me in a most unique fashion, especially when it concerns a major direction in our ministry.
I will never forget that day. It seems like it was just yesterday.
During special prayer and a time of sincerely seeking the face of God, THAT VOICE SPOKE AGAIN.
"GO DOWN TO MIRACLE VALLEY AND BUILD MY BIBLE COLLEGE."
There was no question or doubt in my mind. I immediately looked on a map to located Miracle Valley.
God immediately opened every door for me, as well as what amount of money that I should offer the current owners.
A contract was signed on August 4, 1999 and Miracle Valley was immediately assigned to us. PRAISE GOD!
This was the first time we had ever been in the West. We didn't know anyone, but Sister Harter & I were so happy because we both knew that we were in the divine will of God.
Well, that was over 8 years ago. And I must admit that it has been most difficult at Miracle Valley and very stressful to us both. But, nevertheless, we have not quit. We have continued to believe God and GOD HAS COME THROUGH EVERY TIME.
Now the Year 2008 is the YEAR OF JUBILEE for MIRACLE VALLEY. I believe that God has planned something very special for this place.
Something wonderful and most extraordinary is about to occur at Miracle Valley. How do I know that? It's sort of like "I know that I know."
Remember, just as God has called me, God has called others to stand by my side.
