Ray Kemery on Camera # 1, Under the Allen Tent
In 1951, while working for the moving industry,
Kemery took motion pictures of the Allen Revival
tent being erected in California. (That film can
be viewed today.)
Shortly thereafter, Kemery was challenged by his
peers as to whether or not he could produce a
motion picture of the Allen Revival Campaign being
held under the Allen tent. Knowing that a
bumble bee is not suppose to be able to fly, he
accepted the challenge. He filmed the Allen
meetings and had them put on a local
television station.
When viewers saw the vast healings and
miracles, they flooded the tent to the extent that
the tent could not hold the people. Due to Kemery's
efforts, ALLEN WAS THE FIRST EVANGELIST TO HAVE
HIS HEALING CAMPAIGNS PREACH ON TELEVISION.
In the mid 1950's Ray went to work for Allen
Revivals, Inc. He was the Motion Picture Camera
Technician/Producer for the A. A. Allen telecast. His
picture appears on the front cover of MIRACLE
MAGAZINE, VOL. 1, NO. 1 dated OCTOBER 1955.
Ray shared a story with me that was featured
in an article he wrote in A. A. ALLEN'S
FEBRUARY'S 1956's MIRACLE MAGAZINE. It was
entitled, "THE CAMERAMAN'S STORY OF THE
NAILED SCARRED HANDS."
"God had been pouring oil on the hands of the
people, all the last week of the Lost Angeles
meeting. Yes, I said oil. It just appeared out of
nowhere. Signs and miracles had been present in
every one of these last week meetings. Unusual
signs and miracles.
On Saturday night, God took over the service as
He had done every night of that week. Suddenly oil
started to appear on people's hands, as it had
regularly each night before. This night it was all over
my hands, till I could hardly hold on to the heavy
camera panning bar. Brother Allen asked all the
people that had oil on their hands to come up front
and form a line where the people could see it.
Then he said to me, "Brother Kemery, get some
good close-ups of this oil in color, so the people can
really see what it looks like."
He reached down and picked up a man's hands
and said, "Look here, folks! Look at this man's
hands!"
When I looked through the view finder of my
camera, I could hardly believe my eyes. There was a
pair of hands with oil, however, these hands had nail
prints. When I got Doc's (Kemery called Allen, Doc)
attention, I told him what I saw. Others were now
coming through the ramp.
Allen stopped and asked the crowd to look for this
special man, however, a woman stood to her feet
and began to prophesy. "THIS NIGHT HAVE I
WALKED AMONG YOU AND YE KNEW ME NOT!"
JESUS CHRIST was literally under that great
A. A. Allen tent that night! Ray Kemery was an eye-
witness."
